Telenovelas have transcended language barriers and territorial borders. The Latin American phenomenon has been the subject of many interesting articles in the press recently. They are often dubbed or subtitled for non-Spanish speaking viewers, attracting a diverse audience that range in the billions from the United States to Russia, Argentina to China, Afghanistan to Greece. Starring Barbara Mori, Eduardo Santamaria, Jaqueline Bracamontes and Sebastian Rulli, RUBI has all the ingredients of a Hollywood script, from passion to greed, desire, treachery and murder. It is the story of a girl, blessed with beauty instead of money that is determined to use her looks and malice in order to marry a wealthy man who can offer her the life of luxury she is after at the expense of everyone around her.

While on the air in the United States, RUBI, became one of the favorite girls that everyone loved to hate. It was crowned as the # 2 telenovela of all times (second to Amor Real) and sparked an avalanche of controversy and hundreds of online postings worldwide.
