Things to Do in Edinburgh after the Festival by Apex Hotels

Edinburgh, Scotland (PRWEB) October 6, 2009

With the festival excitement drawing to a close, people could be forgiven for slipping into a depression and wondering what is there to do in Edinburgh now? The answer to that is a simple one, everything! Whatever kind of entertainment they enjoy, Scotland’s capital has it in abundance. From music acts like The Enemy to world famous comedians like Billy Connolly, Edinburgh has it all. The best advice is to head to an Apex Hotel, book up, dress up and hit the town for a fun packed gig or show and enjoy the night.

Get back in to the festival comedy spirit and book a hotel room in Edinburgh to go and see Rob Brydon’s gig at the Playhouse on the 6th of December. The Welsh comedian is playing himself for the first time, rather than his alter ego ‘Keith Barret’ and will surely have the crowd up for a bit of fun. Comedian Jimmy Carr is back on the road with his new show and will grace the Playhouse Theatre on the 20th of December. This is not a show for the easily offended but he is a man who certainly gets the crowd going with his near the knuckle act.

Music fans out there will be delighted to hear that Scotland’s most famous twins are coming back to Edinburgh on the 10th and 11th of November. The Proclaimers play the Usher Hall on Lothian Road and with a mix of new songs and some classic anthems such as ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’ they are sure to appeal to a wide range of people. Coventry based indie band The Enemy, whose hits include ‘live and die in these towns’ and ‘this song’ play the Corn Exchange on the 10th of November and this is not to be missed.

November also lends itself to the Autumn Tests rugby matches where Scotland play three games in eleven days. All the matches will be played at Murrayfield, with the opening match against Fiji on the 14th of November set to be the baptism of Scotland’s new coach. The world’s third ranked team Australia play Scotland on the 21st of November and Argentina, who Scotland defeated in their last meeting, arrive on the 28th and kick off at 2.30pm. The Apex European Hotel, just a short walk from the stadium, provides the quickest access to Murrayfield Stadium. The best way to enjoy the match is by booking a short break in Edinburgh, take in the wonderful game, have a nice meal and enjoy the wonderful nightlife.

The Playhouse Theatre provides a family fun day out with plays Beauty and the Beast showing from the 23rd of September until the 3rd of October and the Queen musical ‘We will rock you’ on from the 4th of November until the start of 2010. The Playhouse facilities include a sweet kiosk for the kids and a bar for the adults, meaning everyone is catered for.

Edinburgh also has a world renowned reputation for its Hogmanay street party and with the festive period looming large why not plan a Christmas and New Year break in Edinburgh and stay at the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel. This landmark building is ‘perfectly located for a spot of shopping on the world famous Princes Street. It’s also only a stone throw away from designer shopping street, George Street, which is home to designer labels such as Louis Vuitton and Harvey Nichols. The boutique hotel is also perfectly placed for Edinburgh’s Winter Wonderland. This magical winter program provides festive entertainment including ice skating, live entertainment and fun for the whole family.

Apex Hotels provide Edinburgh City Centre accommodation in various parts of this great city and are the perfect way to enjoy some of Edinburgh’s finest entertainment and Nightlife in luxurious surroundings.

Tango with the Buddha in Buenos Aires, Argentina, December 11-13, 2009

Buenos Aires, Argentina (PRWEB) October 9, 2009

Come and discover, first hand (and foot!) how both aesthetic experiences of Tango and Zen, done simultaneously, can be a road to inner peace through TangoZen Workshop in Buenos Aires in December 2009.

Recently, Tango was declared part of the world’s cultural heritage by the United Nations.

Tango is the dance of connection, relaxation, and silent communication. Meditation is the art of discovering and reconciling ones own nature. Together, in Tango Zen, they make the music of mind and body, one step at a time.

TangoZen is an innovative yet natural way of meditating while dancing Tango. It is for those who are new or seasoned at meditation, for beginners as well as veteran dancers, and for anyone who is searching for a literal step-by-step method that is both rhythmic and simple to pursue, in order to accomplish a peaceful way of being. In other words, TangoZen can help establish balance, calmness, groundedness, centering, and harmony in mind and body.

TangoZen workshop will be offered on December 11-13 in Buenos Aires. This weekend event is expecting participations by Argentines as well as foreigners mainly from the United States and Europe.

Daily activities of the workshop include morning Walking Dance Meditation, afternoon Tango classes/practicas, and nightly milongas. The workshop will take place in Casa McAuley, approximately 35km from the city of Buenos Aires.

Chan Park, instructor of the workshop, has presented the TangoZen workshops for years in Germany, United Kingdom, Denmark, Italia, Spain, Czech Republic, France, Croatia, Canada, Lithuania, Russia, Latvia, Finland, Holland, Korea, China, Singapore and India. He also has offered the workshops in renowned meditation wellness centers: Omega Institute (New York, USA), Kirpalu Center for Yoga and Health (Massachusetts, USA), Ranch La Puerta (Baja California, Mexico), and Villa Unspunnen (Interlaken, Switzerland). He published a book titled “Tango Zen: Walking Dance Meditation” in English in the United States in 2005. A bilingual version (Castellano-English) of the book was also published in Buenos Aires last year by Editorial Kier. His story has been featured in Pagina 12, Kin

New York, New York (PRWEB) October 24, 2009

Sacred art installation of mural and table for the shrine of “Our Lady of Lujan” by the celebrated American artist Guillermo Esparza unveils at St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in New York on September 27, 2009 as part of the continuing events celebrating the Cathedral’s 200-year anniversary. The mural and table for the shrine of “Our Lady of Lujan”, commissioned by Rev. Carlos Mullins and the Argentinean-American Association of Our Lady of Lujan, becomes permanent installation at the Cathedral. The mural of “Our Lady of Lujan” by Guillermo Esparza was executed in oil and gold on linen. It depicts the miracle of Our Lady of Lujan, which took place in 1630 in Argentina. Guillermo Esparza, a master iconographer, sculptor, and painter, is renowned for his sacred art installations in the United States, as well as abroad. The carpentry for the table, following the design by Guillermo Esparza, was executed by Jeff Taisey, known for his work for numerous major motion pictures. The shrine was blessed by the Cathedral’s pastor, Msgr. Donald Sakano.

Another important sacred art installation by Guillermo Esparza unveils on October 15, 2009 at the Holy Name Chapel, St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. As an addition to the on-going sacred art exhibit, “Arcanum Angelorum” (Mystery of the Angels), Guillermo Esparza’s latest mural icon is “The Deisis”. It depicts Pantokrator (Christ), Theotokos (Virgin Mary), and Prodromos (John The Forerunner). The Deisis is the central part of some Orthodox churches. This mural was executed by Guillermo Esparza in oil and gold on linen, and is 10 feet high and 7 feet wide.

Due to an extraordinary popularity of the event, an exhibit of sacred art – “Arcanum Angelorum” (“Mystery of the Angels”), Art in the Sacred Canon, – with works by Guillermo Esparza, award-winning, internationally recognized American iconographer, painter, and sculptor, is extended through the end of 2010 at St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in New York. The exhibit commemorates the Bicentennial Celebration of the Cathedral located in the historic SoHo neighborhood in New York City and the restoration of the tabernacle of the church by the artist-in-residence, Guillermo Esparza. The exhibition features recent paintings of angels in oil, icons in egg tempera and gold, drawings, as well as sculptures and mural designs. The exhibit takes place in the undercroft of the Old Cathedral in the Holy Name Chapel, opposite 263 Mulberry Street. Guillermo Esparza launches his sacred art lecture series on iconography and on “Our Lady of Perpetual Help” icon at the Cathedral. Guillermo Esparza is honored for his work by New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, and receives Proclamation from the Mayor, honoring his current sacred art exhibit, “Arcanum Angelorum”.

Guillermo Esparza is the subject of the documentary by Los Angeles filmmaker Veronica Aberham for Studio-Online, an affiliate of London-based Studio International. Original soundtrack is composed and performed by Esparza’s wife, composer and pianist Maria Andriasova Esparza. The film is released on June 1st, and premiers on June 7th, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral for its 200-year anniversary, following the historic mass delivered by Archbishop of New York Timothy Michael Dolan. Russian-language version of the film is translated by Columbia University-trained scholar, Olga Zvenyatsky. Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory and The Juilliard School graduate, composer Maria Andriasova Esparza, is nominated for the distinguished international “Mozart” award from the International Biographical Center, Cambridge, UK, for her original music to this documentary. The soundtrack is listed on Top-40 / Sony Masterworks.

While most standard curriculum is shaped by a textbook and a workbook, the Whole Child, Healthy Planet curriculum is built around the inspiration found in many types of literature.

Sally Carless, founder and Executive Director of Global Village School explains, “The K8 curriculum guides cover all of the core academic subjects in a way that engages students through a sense of enchantment, awe, and wonder as well as through the incorporation of art, music, nature, imagination, and story.”

“Global Village is truly a school with heart,” says Marriage, Family and Child Counselor Nancy Hart, M.A.. “How can a child truly learn when his or her focus is the fear around test taking and memorization? If the strongest emotion around schooling is fear, then that fear gets connected to the learning process. Promoting the love of learning, not the fear of failing to learn–wow! What a concept! Isn’t this what we want for our children?”

About Global Village School –

From its base in the coastal hills of Southern California, this successful distance learning school reaches out to students as far away as Arkansas, Argentina and Australia. The school offers an international K-12 homeschool diploma program that empowers students to cultivate their gifts and passions by engaging them in a creative, flexible educational process grounded in the principles of peace, justice, diversity, and sustainability.

The K8 Whole Child, Healthy Planet curriculum is currently being used by private and charter schools as well as by homeschoolers. To explore samples of the K8 courses, visit http://www.globalvillageschool.org/k8-curriculum.html.

Help Support World MS Day - May 26, 2010; Join with 62 Countries to Mobilize the Global MS Movement

New York, NY (Vocus) May 27, 2010

This year on May 26, the world unites once more in the MS movement to highlight the international effects of multiple sclerosis (MS). Organized by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) with the help of MS Societies in 62 countries, including the United States, the day will be marked by more than 200 events around the world in a concerted effort to build awareness for MS and enhance collaboration that will bring us closer to a world free of multiple sclerosis.

This year to bring home the importance of what an MS diagnosis can mean, which occurs hourly in the US, the MSIF initiated the first global survey covering 125 countries and examining the Global Impact of Multiple Sclerosis. Estimates among the 15 nations tracking such data, indicate that the average annual costs of MS to the person affected and society as a whole to be $ 41,335, and most currently in the US, $ 69,118. Based on an MS population in the U.S. of 400,000 that would mean the total yearly impact of MS in the United States is $ 28 billion. Loss of employment, or early retirement, was considered to be the single largest factor contributing to this financial cost.

http://www.msif.org/en/get_involved/world_ms_day_2010/economic_impact.html

MS is found in every country in the world, and is one of the most common neurological diseases amongst people in their 20s and 30s. It is a prime of life disease striking just when people are building their careers and families. MS affects at least twice as many women as men and up to 60% of people diagnosed with MS will experience long-term disability, though continuing medical breakthroughs have brought partially effective treatments to many.

Buenos Aires Surfaces as the Art Capital of the World

West Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) June 22, 2010

Buenos Aires is in the midst of a highly-charged historical “cultural arts Renaissance” which has been years in the making. On May 24, 2010, over three million people converged on Avenida 9 de Julio to celebrate the 200th bicentennial of the city and the gala re-opening of the famed Colon Opera House, which had been closed for four years during a complete and costly renovation. Not since Evita Peron’s fable funeral in 1952 have such large crowds gathered in the streets of Buenos Aires for a single cultural event.

To those art aficionados who have their fingers on the pulse of global art scenes, this kind of outpouring in Argentina for such a pomp and circumstance event comes as no surprise whatsoever.

Make no mistake about it, the evidence has been mounting and well-chronicled for some time concerning Buenos Aires’ cultural revival! Numerous events in the city over the past several years have been confirming this important development all along. Whether by divine design or happenstance, a series of events, experiences and efforts have been taking place in the capital of Argentina.

It is as if co-ordinated cultural formulas for success have been achieved on all fronts in a timely order. To simplify a rather dynamic overview, one could argue that the new surge began about four years ago when the Colon Opera House closed its doors.

Since that time, orchestrated by efforts of several government agencies, foundations for the arts, and world-wide developments, a revival of cultural interests and expressions has mushroomed in Buenos Aires and has been opening doors to this new era. It stands to reason that the Colon, with new state-of-the-art

enhancements, is perhaps the premier opera venue on the earth.

The influence of world affairs seems to have played perfectly into Buenos Aires

Conill Wins Gold Lion At 2010 Cannes International Advertising Festival

Torrance, CA (PRWEB) June 29, 2010

Conill had a terrific showing at the 57th Annual Cannes International Advertising Festival held June 20-26, taking home a gold Lion in the Film category for its work for the Consulate General of Argentina in Los Angeles. The agency also earned Shortlist honors in the Media category for “Best Use of Television” for its non-traditional Toyota Camry advertising.

The gold-winning 30-second commercial titled Crying was among the most acclaimed of the festival, receiving thunderous applause during its screening. In it, a grief-stricken man agonizes alone after receiving a phone call. An epic musical score adds to the tension. It cuts to a new take on the scene, this time with the music replaced by the directors inspirational comments to the actor:

“Remember that we haven’t been Champions Since ’86″

“Brazil has won three more cups than us”

“And a few days ago we lost to Chile!”

The penultimate super reads, “A Bad Year For Our Futbol. A Good Year For Our Movies.”

Being behind the camera offers a unique perspective that most people never experience, said Conill Chief Creative Officer Pablo Buffagni. We used that perspective and took a playful spin on the director actor motivation process and it just clicked. The perfect and fortunate timing of having the World Cup happening gave the effort an added dimension.

Conills award-winning work can be seen at http://www.conill.com.

Canada"s Festival City Edmonton, Alberta Hosts Major Festivals This Summer

Edmonton, AB (Vocus) July 12, 2010

Producers of the major festivals in Edmonton, Alberta also known as Canadas Festival City pride themselves with their committed sense of community spirit and co-operation to ensure success for each individual event, including the Edmonton Street Performers Festival, Edmonton Folk Music Festival, and the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival. They realize there is more power together than apart, a huge key to the growth of each festival year over year.

Edmonton is very special in that our Street Performers festival is among the best in the world, the Fringe is the largest of its type and were the largest festival of our type in the world too. Im proud to be part of that community. Its not a competitive thing,” says Terry Wickham of the famed Edmonton Folk Music Festival. “Its a cooperative thing.

Wickham explains that the Edmonton Folk Music Festival has gladly lent its mobile stage and tents to other festivals. What Wickham sees is how everyone benefits from Edmonton being known as Festival City. Its always having a winning season, he says.

Each of the key festivals Wickham mentions brings a different kind of life, culture and fun to the face of Edmonton each summer. Our theme is Yield to Laughter, says Shelley Switzer, Artistic Producer of the Edmonton International Street Performers Festival. Thats what were all about: laughter, smiles and great times at all our Edmonton events! We give you the opportunity to drop your everyday schedule, to not be tied to the clock, to be connected to the fun and to find fun together with friends, as a family or on a date.

The festival has been bringing the laughter to Edmontons downtown streets for 26 years now. Were now into our third generation of people coming to the festival, says Switzer. Its really something to see how our audience has literally grown with us. People who saw it as kids are now bringing their own kids to it!

Audiences arent the only ones who keep coming back. For the artists, this is one of the top ten in the world, says Switzer. There are literally squeals of delight when I phone the artists and invite them to this festival. There are many, many artists who do not work on the street unless they come to perform at the Edmonton festival.

What the Edmonton Folk Music Festival brings to the city is the music in the great natural venue Edmonton has to offer. Unlike at concerts where youre stuck inside, here youre outside in beautiful Gallagher Park and its more laid back, he says. You can watch an artist on the main stage then wander away, have a coffee or sit on a blanket with your own food.

When youre up on the hill, surrounded by green grass and trees and people dancing, smiling, laughing and loving the music, something magical seems to happen. Wickham is right. Some of that magic has to do with the setting. Youre up high on the hills and you can see the whole North Saskatchewan River Valley, which is probably the most beautiful place in the city. Plus, its got a natural slope so you can see over peoples heads and see the stage better. It helps for acoustics too. Its a natural amphitheatre.

The acts themselves are definitely a big draw. The festival sold out in just a day this year. Its the first time thats happened. We had people from as far away as South Africa purchasing tickets this year! says Wickham. Well, you know, for our Wednesday night performance, Van Morrison is playing for that one night. Thats a big deal.

Right after the Edmonton Folk Festival wraps up, the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival brings more culture, charm, and excitement to Festival City but as Julian Mayne, Executive Director sees it, those adjectives are probably a little weak for an event this crazy. How about chaotic fun? he chuckles. That would be a better way to describe the Fringe! Unexpected would be another! After all, the experience people come for is that theyre paying 12 dollars to get into a show and they really dont know what that show is going to be. Its about being open to the challenge and very likely finding something great!

The odds of finding an incredible show are very high. After all, this is the largest Fringe Festival in Canada and this year its even bigger than ever. We have over 185 shows in total on 42 stages and a grand total of over 1500 performances, says Mayne. We have 11 of our traditional lottery venues where we provide technicians, lights and sound for the artists to work in. The rest are Bring-Your-Own-Venues, which are artist-run venues across the city.

This years Fringe features more international shows than usual 39, in fact, coming from Japan, Argentina, the UK, the US and Israel, to name just a few.

Mayne is expecting a banner year for the Fringe. This festival has been selling around 77,000 tickets per year for about a decade. Last year, over 92,000 tickets were sold. Were looking to break 100,000 tickets sold this year and with all of these Bring-Your-Own-Venues, I think well be able to do it!

The Edmonton Street Performers Festival runs July 9-18 with information at http://edmontonstreetfest.com/. New Research - Diversity Sells: Supporting Gays and Lesbians Drives Sales

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 20, 2010

New market research being released this week asks about lesbian and gay marketing – can companies use support for gay consumers as a way to drive sales?

The ’2010 Out Now Global LGBT Study’ suggests corporations worldwide have more to gain than lose through ‘public displays of affection’ towards lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) customers and staff.

Initial results show this powerful consumer market – accounting for 6% of all sales worldwide – will choose brands that support LGBT customers with visible, well-targeted marketing campaigns.

Coupled with majority support for gay equality in major world economies, the research suggests companies need not fear targeting gay consumers.

“After ‘coming out’, LGBT people in 2010 are now well advanced in the process of ‘coming in’ – into the mainstream of society in many ways,” says Ian Johnson, CEO of Out Now – a global LGBT marketing specialist agency.

“There still exists levels of discrimination and misinformation directed against LGBT people – but this new research reveals a clear trend,” says Johnson. “Gay consumers switch brands to support companies that support LGBT customers and staff. This is highly significant – and valuable.”

The Out Now Global research is underway in 20 countries – including USA, Canada, UK, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Israel, Argentina, Mexico and Brazil.

“The research shows marketing to gay consumers, and supporting LGBT staff, can add valuable percentage points to total market share – and profits – for companies developing effective, relevant and authentic strategies,” Johnson says.

In Latin America, Out Now is partnering in the study with leading media, business and community organizations right across the region. This week Out Now releases first findings from the research in Buenos Aires.

Out Now is a global LGBT market specialist with two decades of marketing experience relied upon by leading brands including IBM, Toyota, TUI, Lufthansa, German National Tourist Office, Merck, Sony Music, Barclays, Lloyds TSB and Citibank.

Top Ten Summer Travel Destinations From Let"s Go Travel Guides

Cambridge, MA (Vocus) July 21, 2010

It’s officialafter several years of penny-pinching, staycations, and a weak dollar, travelers are ready to start exploring the world again. To help travelers get back in the game, Let’s Go Travel Guides has compiled a list of its top summer travel destinations for student travelers looking to splurge a little or save. The following destinations include:

10. National Parks

National parks, in the U.S. and abroad, get big thumbs up as a staycation alternative. Cheap, often relatively close, and undeniably beautiful, national parks around the countryand the worldoffer unique opportunities for the budget traveler. Campsites run for less per night than hotel rooms, smores cost a fraction of restaurant fare, and aside from modest park entry fees, mountains and trees tend to be pretty easy on the wallet.

9. Dublin

With a recent slowdown in economic growth and the weakening of the euro, Dublin is an increasingly budget-friendly travel hotspot. Despite its increasingly cosmopolitan reputation, modern Dublin still has the quirky flavor of a large town busily engaged in neighborhood pursuits. The citys distinctive neighborhoods, significant student population, blossoming art and theater scenes, and an ever-thriving pub culture help Dublin retain its youthful Guinness-fueled jaunt.

8. Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, or “fresh air”, is quickly becoming one of the most popular cities for study abroad in Latin America. Student travelers are bound to meet young people from every corner of the world, not to mention locals who grill until midnight and regard a night out that ends at 4am as a weak attempt. From the Recoleta (think the Upper East Side with a pinch of Paris) to Boca (canary-yellow townhouses that empty out for rowdy soccer matches every night), Buenos Aires isnt just a city of tango and opera anymore. Argentinas capital is like a European city at Latin American prices, with easy access to world-class skiing, wine, and beaches.

7. Paris

Intemperance? Gluttony? Sex addiction? Ballet? There isn’t a vice that hasn’t been indulged in by previous generations in Paris. Steeped in history and allusions right down to its sewers, Paris weaves a spell in stone and sunlight. With the euro weaker than its been in years, travel in the City of Light, though still expensive, is cheaper than it was a year ago. The saying: One mans debt crisis is another mans favorable exchange rate. is spot-on when talking about travel to Paris.

6. Thailand

With a unique mix of tiny islands and bustling cities like Bangkok, Thailand offers a truly uniqueand affordablegetaway. With a little guidance, its easy to find safe, cheap, and comfy beds after a long day of elephant riding or bowing before glittering golden Buddha statues. The flight to the “Land of Smiles” may be expensive, but once there, a thriving backpacking scene and inexpensive food and lodging make Thailand a budget-travel paradise for students.

5. Costa Rica and Nicaragua

From middle-aged cannabis enthusiasts to spring-breaking co-eds, budget travelers of every age seem to appreciate the wonders of Costa Rica. Stable politics and a top-notch tourist infrastructure have made it Central Americas tourist hotspot since the 1970s. Cheaper, less touristed, and with its political troubles behind it, Nicaragua is poised to give its neighbor to the south a run for its colonesor c

$50,000 Gay Wedding Gift to Celebrate New Argentina Equal Marriage Laws

Buenos Aires, Argentina (PRWEB) July 29, 2010

In two weeks time, lesbians and gay men living in Argentina will begin to legally marry, and the city of Buenos Aires has just received a wedding gift worth more than $ 50,000 to celebrate.

The move has been welcomed by the City of Buenos Aires Tourism Ministry – as Out Now, a global specialist gay marketing agency, has just donated over $ 50,000 worth of staff training to help educate the city’s tourism and hospitality sector on how to deliver customer service which best understands lesbian and gay travelers needs.

In announcing the gift, Out Now’s CEO – Ian Johnson – said his company was honored to thank Argentina for taking such an important step for gays and lesbians worldwide. He announced that Out Now is to make its GayComfort program widely and freely available to the tourism sector – right across Argentina’s capital city, Buenos Aires.

“The importance of next month’s move to equality for lesbian and gay people living in Argentina cannot be overstated,” Johnson says. “By this one action, Argentina has sent a signal to the world that this is a modern country, where equal means equal – for all its citizens.”

“As a result, lesbian and gay people around the world are now more likely to add Buenos Aires to the top of their tourism hit-list,” Johnson said.

“Out Now is delighted to make our leading industry-standard GayComfort training and certification program available to all of Buenos Aires’ hotel sector – at no cost,” Johnson said. “It is our way to say thank you for taking this step – which inspires gay and lesbian people in the country, in the region and around the world.”

Buenos Aires becomes the first Latin American city to become certified in Out Now’s GayComfort training and certification program. Other GayComfort certified cities also include Berlin, Tel Aviv, Stockholm, Helsinki and Australia’s Gold Coast.

GayComfort certification sets the standard in training staff on LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) sensitivity issues. By preparing frontline staff, hotels learn how to deliver enhanced customer service to meet the travel concerns of lesbian and gay travelers when on vacation.

Many of the world’s leading hotel brands at locations around the world are also already part of this program. Leading global tour operators – including Air Canada Vacations, Mark Travel Corporation and TUI – are also partners in the GayComfort program.

About Out Now

Out Now is a global LGBT market specialist with two decades of marketing experience relied upon by leading brands including IBM, Toyota, TUI, Lufthansa, German National Tourist Office, Merck, Sony Music, Barclays, Lloyds TSB and Citibank.

About GayComfort

GayComfort is a trademark of Out Now. It delivers online training in four languages (Spanish, French, German and English) to tourism and hospitality staff working around the world. It is designed not to treat gay customers differently, but to treat them the same as all other customers – as equally worthy of respect as valued customers. GayComfort training leads to hotels becoming GayComfort certified so that lesbian and gay customers can ‘know before they go’ where to stay on vacation.

Both were an indication of his expanding horizons. After his departure from Depeche Mode in 1995, Recoil became Wilder’s full-time project. Austin Jazz Vocalist, Dena Taylor, Returning to the Studio and the American Jazz Songbook

Austin, TX (PRWEB) September 4, 2010

Word is that jazz vocalist, Dena Taylor, will once again be returning to the studio and her musical roots – jazz standards from the American Songbook.

Currently, Taylor is in that mind-boggling process of selecting which song to include. Anyone knowledgeable of the music industry knows that its no easy chore and nothing that is done quickly particularly if the artist is as picky about her music as is Taylor.

However, this time she is letting her fans become part of that CD by helping her select the songs. Taylor has put a form on her website (http://www.denataylormusic.com) that fans can use to nominate the song they would most like to hear her sing. Shes adding a little incentive onto the whole process .. the nominator of any song selected and ultimately appearing on the CD will also be included in the liner notes.

This new CD will also be more upfront about her charitable work. Taylor lost her mother to Alzheimers in July of 2010 so not only is she dedicating the CD to her but shell be setting aside a percentage of the sales specifically for donation to the Alzheimers Association (http://www.alz.org) in her mothers name.

Taylor lends her personal support & musical talent to a number of causes that support others who have endured adversity or are in the midst of their challenges and it is a testament to Taylor’s talent, however, that her sound never seems “preachy.” Rather, the adversity Taylor has faced personally lends her voice a hard, knowing edge – like that of a Gladys Knight at her prime – that gives her music a ripened maturity so many pop stars lack.

Ms. Taylor changed more than just cities with her relocation to Austin, Texas in 2009. Her recent release, Certitude (rel. Mar, 2010), showed strong confidence in both sound and style and that confidence is well founded. Certitude has introduced a new approach and a new life to the music she sings. Says Bree Noble of Women of Substance Radio, Although Dena has been known for putting her own hip and modern twist on jazz standards in the vein of Ella Fitzgerald, Certitude is a new, mature artistic direction for Taylor.

The opinion of Rosana Caban, when she reviewed Taylors Certitude for MyMusicSuccess.com was: Smoky, sexy, soft – the velvety voice of Dena Taylor dominates not just a corner of the room but indeed the entire wall of sound created by the “on” button of the stereo. And her voice on this new CD is the one thing that has not changed .. it’s still the same singer who captivated listeners with her 2008 release, Round Midnight.

Taylors return to the American Songbook will thrill long-time fans who have been hoping for another award winning repeat of her first CD, Round Midnight. As Tony Lawson of IMI Sound said, There are many artists out there doing a splendid job with the great classics of jazz and blues, but the sensitivity, the depth of feeling and the richness of colour that Dena infuses into her performances are in a class of their own. Duly supported by a band of first-class musicians, Dena is that rare combination of outstanding talent and enchanting charisma that one cannot but feel fortunate to come across in the vast world of music.

This vocalists appeal is international. Argentinas Miquel Montez says, eres maravillosa. From Italys Daybox Record, Max Mafia comes, Dena Taylor is without doubt a splendid surprise. Carol Hayes of Australias Shoalhaven Radio said, It is my pleasure to present Dena to the listening audience of the beautiful South Coast of New South Wales, Australia. American songwriter, Christopher Morse, says, You are the real deal–a classic American jazz singer!

Taylor’s road to success has been hard-won, even inspirational. Upon leaving the military, Taylor found herself in a violent car accident that left her with a severe brain injury requiring a full two years to regain her ability to speak and walk again. And, since that time, she has also waged her own personal battle against breast cancer.

Inspite of it all, this vocalist has one of the brightest smiles you could imagine and she uses it frequently. A jovial spirit with a robust laugh is what you will find if you’re fortunate enough to spend any time with her. Its that spirit combined with her talent that has seen her working with notables such as Ron Teixeira, Ron Pirtle, Dave Dunscome, John Fitzgerald, Redd Volkaert and Ernie Durawa to name just a few.

Taylors music can be heard on websites: http://www.denataylormusic.com, http://www.denataylor.bandcamp.com, http://www.facebook.com/denataylormusic, http://www.reverbnation.com/denataylor and it can be purchased on: iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby (http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/DenaTaylor) and http://www.denataylor.bandcamp.com.

The Reason Why Using Eco Friendly Food Packaging Is Very Significant

Environmental worries are coming to the fore more and more. As we waste all natural resources and additionally pollute trash dumps with non-biodegradable waste materials, it’s becoming more and more critical that all of us find out less harmful substitutes. One segment where there happens to be considerable concept is within the food packaging market.

The technology of plastic totally changed the way we developed things and packaged items. Having said that, it would come along with a obvious negative aspect – it didn’t decompose. Plastic-made products may last for years without changing kind as a consequence of chemical compounds that go down into composing it. These kind of chemicals furthermore make it unhealthy to burn, making disposal a vital obstacle.

Mostly food products these days being packaged in plastic materials, polystyrene or metals, the need for looking for a resolution for this concern has long been a prevalent one. Apparently you are unable to have your baked beans or milk sold without the item packaging, and so suppliers have had to take a look attentively into materials that are eco friendly or will be able to decompose.

Due to we’ve already mentioned, this is not a small drawback. Rubbish dumps throughout the world are overflowing with trash that can take tens of years to get rid of, if indeed it does in any way. This leads to all kinds of environment damage, such as the exhaust of gasses together with other general pollutants. Therefore, the bigger these trash dumps get, the even less space we own and the more damage the environmental surroundings will suffer; on the whole, it may be a pretty very bad scenario.

Thus, the nice thing about using reduced packaging or materials that can easily be reused minimizing the burden on rubbish dumps and waste distribution centers. Needless to say even recycling has numerous ecological benefits, especially when done using an incinerator; having said that, these need to be substantially decreased as compared to the complications caused by constricting the environment together with materials that will last a number of years.

There is certainly a connected expenses for suppliers and producers when considering dealing with environmentally food packing; even so, on most occasions, this is deemed an acceptable bargain. Unfortunately though, some still use materials which are not biodegradable or recyclable. Whether this program expenses or productivity it’s actually a technique that moves on, and it is damaging our environment concurrently.

In order to return to the principal core of this article, the main reason why environmentally friendly food packaging is very important is simply because it can help to solve an ever deepening trouble. As recycling initiatives from local and nation wide governments continuously get spread around, knowing of the products we’re utilising and in what way in which they are discarded should likewise get more special attention.

Thousands in 25 Countries to Celebrate 1st Global Oneness Day Oct. 24; Tutu, Ono, Chopra, Beckwith, Keating Among Supporters

Boulder, Colo. (PRWEB) October 18, 2010

Thousands of people in more than 25 countries will celebrate the first Global Oneness Day Oct. 24 by demonstrating humanitys inner unity and outer diversity, organizers announced today.

The day — initiated by the global grassroots Humanitys Team movement and supported by the Association for Global New Thought and some three dozen other groups — is a day when the greatness of the whole is reflected in the greatness of its parts, Humanitys Team Worldwide Coordinating Director Steve Farrell said.

It is also a day that is a key steppingstone toward creating lasting peace in the world, organizers said.

Lasting peace requires that we awaken humanity to our underlying oneness, educate people to the beauty of our diversity and alert the world to the imperative that we must embody these values so that life as we know it may not only be preserved, but renewed and transformed, AGNT President the Rev. Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith said.

PROMINENT GLOBAL ONENESS DAY SUPPORTERS include South African Nobel Peace laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu; artist-musician Yoko Ono; spiritual writers Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Neale Donald Walsch and Andrew Harvey; Trappist monk and priest Father Thomas Keating; futurist Barbara Marx Hubbard, and U.N. Culture of Peace emissary Anwarul K. Chowdhury.

The day, planned as the first annual worldwide celebration, provides opportunities for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts demonstrating unity, diversity, harmony and compassion on a shared date, comparable to what happens on Earth Day.

Practical action will provide tangible, experiential proof of how we can live when we come from a place of oneness, Beckwith said. It will encourage us all to expand our hopes, beliefs and behaviors so that at any moment oneness may permeate all aspects of life.

Would the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks have occurred if humanity had already recognized we are all one? Beckwith said. Would we now tolerate accelerated global warming, extreme poverty and hunger, and gender inequality? Would we fight each other under the banner of organized religion and in the name of God?

Recognizing the oneness of humanity and all of life is the key to solving most chronic and acute world problems, Beckwith said.

U.N. ENVOY: NO PEACE WITHOUT ONENESS

Indeed, peace efforts will continue to fail until people embrace humanitys oneness, Chowdhury said May 20 on receiving a grassroots plea to the United Nations, signed by more than 50,000 people from 168 countries, appealing to the world body to affirm humanitys oneness and endorse an annual Global Oneness Day.

I believe that unless we have that sense of solidarity among the peoples of the world, all our efforts of peace and security will go nowhere, said Chowdhury, a former undersecretary-general and high representative of the United Nations.

A sampling of scheduled Global Oneness Day events, to date, includes:

Musician Serenades 30,000 Women in 30 Days

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 20, 2010

When Greg Charles released his debut pop album of original love songs recently, he had no idea that he would be serenading more than 30,000 women around the world in 30 days.

The music industry has changed dramatically in the last ten years, Greg explains. Anyone can become a one-person rock band composing, recording, mixing, distributing and marketing new music to thousands of potential fans around the world all from the comfort of home.

But releasing an album on your own does not guarantee that anyone will like your music or even listen. Thousands of new albums are released every day and many never get heard. You need to create something of value to the listener something unique, memorable and relevant to their life, insists Greg. And you need to work very hard to promote yourself.

Greg Charles calls himself A Nice Vibe and his new album of twelve original songs is aptly titled I Love You. He composes his own music on a portable Yamaha

Razorfish Debuts Research on Latin America"s New Digital Middle Class

Sao Paulo, Brazil (PRWEB) October 26, 2010

CMOs with global aspirations must understand a thriving New Digital Middle Class in the increasingly powerful Latin American economic markets, according to a new Razorfish report, The Stampede – Meet The New Digital Middle Class. The study was conducted in partnership with Terra, the largest online media company in Latin America.

The Stampede – Meet The New Digital Middle Class is a first-of-its kind study of so-called “Classe C” consumers, an important but misunderstood economic block fueling the growth of vibrant Latin American economies such as Brazil, a hot market for global expansion among businesses from Caterpillar to Louis Vuitton.

The report shatters many misconceptions about Classe C, which Razorfish has renamed “the New Digital Middle Class.” For instance, contrary to popular belief, digital – not television — is at the core of the New Digital Middle Class lifestyle, and women are the chief economic decision makers of the home.

The publication of The Stampede is especially significant because the business market in Latin America is growing rapidly, even as other areas of the world are still recovering from the economic recession. For instance, Citigroup released credit card data in July 2010 that showed consumers in Latin America increasing their spending 15% during the second quarter of this year, while U.S. consumer spending fell 7%*.

“Many Razorfish clients are exploring the possibility of expanding into Latin America, as it is currently one of the fastest growing markets in the world,” said Joe Crump, senior vp of strategy and planning at Razorfish. “The New Digital Middle Class is a large, untapped consumer group in the region, and understanding this group is crucial for marketers trying to connect with them via the right products, services, messages and experiences.”

With the support of Terra, Razorfish studied the behaviors of the New Digital Middle Class in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. This group represents the largest and fastest growing segment across these three countries, comprising 53% of the population in Brazil and 62% and 60% in Mexico and Argentina respectively. Such families earn about 3 to 10 times above the national minimum wage, represent billions of dollars in household income, and are the largest economic force in the region.

The study discovered two key insights about the New Digital Middle Class that will help marketers successfully build relationships with this group and deliver products and services that will resonate with them.

Bridge Selected as Partner for Chilean Ministry of Educations Prestigious English Opens Doors Program

Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 26, 2010

The Ministry of Education in Chile, in conjunction with the United Nations Development Program, has asked Denver-based TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) training center Bridge to recruit volunteers for Chiles English Opens Doors Program. With a Spanish/English language training center in Santiago, Chile and over two decades of experience in the language, travel and education fields, Bridge is uniquely qualified to recruit teachers up to the standards of this prestigious program.

The English Opens Doors Program National Volunteer Center takes very seriously its privileged role as facilitator to ambassadors of the English language. Therefore, EODP-NVC and partner institution, Bridge, must adhere to strict guidelines with regard to the eligibility of each prospective volunteer, said a representative of the Ministry of Education in Chile (MINEDUC).

Native English speakers with a minimum of a bachelors degree are needed to fill volunteer service initiatives in all twelve regions of Chile. Bridge recruits volunteers for the four southernmost regions, comprising the Lakes Region and wild and pristine Chilean Patagonia.

The Chilean government emphasizes the importance of the English language as a key to the countrys development and success in todays global world. The Chilean Ministry of Education created English Opens Doors to bring volunteers into underserved classrooms, helping students and local teachers improve their English language skills and practice with native speakers.

The EODP-NVC is looking forward to another successful year in 2011, in which Chilean primary and secondary students may continue to benefit from having contact with a native English speaking volunteer, said a representative of MINEDUC. In exchange, this opportunity provides new developments in global outreach through volunteering and language learning, thus opening the door to cross-cultural exchanges and experiences for both Chileans and volunteers.

Volunteers co-teach with Chilean English teachers and live with local host families, becoming an integral part of the community and experiencing the culture on a much deeper level than an average tourist and, in turn, exposing students in Chile to customs, languages, and viewpoints different from their own.

My students were fascinated with anything and everything about US culture, from music, to baseball, to simply passing a dollar and some change around the room. Many of them had seen tourists and backpackers passing through town, but for most of them I was the first foreigner they really interacted with, said Sarah Athanas, an EODP volunteer participant in 2008.

According to MINEDUC, The volunteers main responsibilities are: to focus on improving the students speaking and listening skills; to motivate the students to take an interest in learning English; and to share their culture with the students, thus broadening their worldview.

The program includes an in-depth orientation and training in Santiago, and Bridge participants also receive a 120-hour TEFL Online teacher-training course and certification, designed to prepare them for the particular challenges of teaching English as a foreign language overseas. Volunteers may also participate in two weeks of free Spanish language classes at the BridgeChile language center in Santiago prior to their service initiative to facilitate their communication with students and community members during the program.
