"The Latin Hurricane – Chayanne, releases his first DVD and a new English CD”

Dubbed “The Latin Hurricane” (PRWEB) October 10, 2002 -

Miami, Fla. –out concert after another, Puerto Rican singing star, Chayanne, has launched his first, long-awaited DVD. At the same time, he is taking an important step into the Anglo pop music market with a new single — the English version of his hit song, “Y Tu Te Vas”(“You Walk Away”).

The DVD of his latest “Grandes Exitos” (Greatest Hits) album was released in the United States on September 17th, and is currently being released in Mexico, Argentina, and other important global markets over the next few weeks. Like the album, it contains a compilation of videos of Chayanne’s best hits of the past, 13 videos in all.

Long awaited by thousands of fans the world over, the DVD also contains an interview, photo gallery, biography, discography and “behind the scenes” looks at the star, and other high points of his 22 year career as an entertainer. The DVD is a production of Sony Music International/LAR-Miami DVD’s. It is currently available in music outlets across the country and on the Internet including Wherehouse Music, Amazon.com, Best Buy, and CDNOW.com. Grandes Exitos DVD is also available in VHS form at the same outlets.

Chaf Enterprises, Chayanne’s management company located in Miami, Fla., also announced that he has recorded the English version of his Latin hit, “Y Tu Te Vas”, a single that was a chart-topper across the country for 21 weeks and has been on the Top 10 list for 30 weeks, on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks. It’s the opening song on his Grandes Exitos album, which also includes two other new songs, “Quisiera Ser” (“He Wanted To Be”) and “Torero” (“The Bullfighter”), currently holding down the top selling slot in many Latin countries today.

To be released by Sony Discos to the American mainstream, Anglo, radio stations within the next few weeks, the new English single, titled You Walk Away will mark Chayanne’s first totally non-Hispanic pop entry since beginning his musical career as a child star singing with the Latin group, Los Chicos (The Boys). Lauded as being one of the best Latin pop performers of today, the dynamic singer has more than 50 gold and 20 platinum Spanish albums already to his credit.

In the midst of his 5-month long “World Tour 2002” (following a highly successful 10-city appearance schedule in the U.S.), Chayanne was asked recently in Spain, why he feels the need to record in English. The 34-year-old star said, ” No, it’s not that it is needed, but it is important to embrace more languages, to extend to more markets. I have also recorded in Italian, French and in Portuguese…to sing in English I see like an expansion of my career.”

Chayanne, this darkly handsome, muscular, singer/actor/dancer is best known in the U.S. for making a big splash with his steamy starring role in the 1998 Columbia Pictures film, “Dance With Me”, (Bailar Conmigo) co-starring the beautiful Vanessa L. Williams and the former singer-turned-actor, Kris Kristofferson. Reruns on cable TV brought even more Anglo fans to his court. This is true especially on the Internet where there are three major web sites of fans, Chayfans.org, Islachayanne.org and Cafechayanne.com, dedicated to spreading the word about their idol and his career, in addition to a Sony Discos site.

Chayanne was also highly praised last season, when he appeared in two episodes of the popular Fox TV series, Ally McBeal. He thrilled his Hispanic fans last season, by starring in a soap opera, novela series,”Provocame” (“You Provoke Me”) on Latin television in many different countries around the world. In addition, he was recently nominated for the Top Male Singer of the Year award for “Y Tu Te Vas,” in the “Los Premios Oye,” ( What You Hear Award or The Best Sound Award ) to be given out on Nov. 26, by the Mexican Association of Producers of Fonogramas, (AMPROFON) and CIE, a television spectacles company.

When Chayanne completes his world tour in the fall, he is expected to return to the recording studio to produce a new crossover album, this one containing several songs in English.

INTERNATIONAL DESIGNERS GRACE NEW YORK’S CATWALK

(PRWEB) February 21, 2003

On February 6, 2003, USA International Fashion Shows introduced four fashion designers to the New York City market. The runway shows of Clive Rundle, Jorge Isaac, Fabrizio Celleri and Lourdes Atencio took place at the luxurious Manhattan Penthouse on Fifth Avenue before an audience of fashion buyers, a select group of VIPs and members of the international press representing publications from Japan, Germany, Argentina, the Dominican Republic and many other countries. As a direct result of their participation in the event, two of the designers are already in negotiation with one of the USA’s largest retailers. Photos, videos and slide presentations showcasing the fashion collections are now available to member of the press and buyers not present at the event.

A high level of cooperation was in evidence among the staff, designers, models, volunteers and producer of the shows. “At one point,” according to Andres Aquino, producer of the event, “it seemed that everyone — including the designers — were working with everyone else to make the shows a complete success. There is an incredibly high energy level,” Mr. Aquino noted. A number of members of the press expressed their enthusiasm about the shows. As one editor put it, “The USA International Fashion Shows are needed in New York to bring out fresh talent from other countries… it compliments the existing shows that we see during fashion week.”

The February show was just a taste of what will be the beginning of an international event of great magnitude in the fashion industry in the USA. A number of designers have already signed up for the September 2003 shows that promises to be the first truly international runway fashion event in New York City with the participation of designers from around the world.

The designers presented:

JORGE ISAAC. A native of Ecuador, this talented fashion designer was inspired early on by the natural beauty and color palette surrounding him. In 1991, Jorge moved to New York City to follow his dream of becoming a successful fashion designer. His premiere collection for Fall 2003 is a product of Jorge’s fashion sensibility and creativity in a mélange of pieces designed to complement a woman’s natural sensuality. “I believe that beauty lies within… Just give it a nudge to bring it forth…”

FABRIZIO CELLERI. A well-established, award-winning designer in his native Ecuador, Fabrizio Celleri is a former fashion consultant for TC Television and Ecuavisa. He opened his first boutique in Guayaquil in 1997. In 1998, Fabrizio was invited by the French consulate to present his collection along with students of the Ecole Bercole in Paris. He has presented his collections throughout South America, France and the United States. Fabrizio Celleri’s designs are sold at Oxygen and Nuriel in Miami, as well as through his New York showroom.

CLIVE RUNDLE. Born in Zimbabwe and raised in South Africa, Clive Rundle is an established South African designer. Drawn to fashion early in life, Clive studied his craft in Johannesburg. In 1986, he was invited to show a small collection at the Coer Des Beaux Arts in France with other young designers. Soon after, his label was hanging in more than 50 stores in South Africa and Clive decided to launch his own boutique. Clive Rundle’s collection is sponsored in part by world-renowned Swarovski crystals.

Clive attributes his primary influences to beauty, nature, complexity of construction, fabric, color, composition, art, sculpture and music. The essence of his designs is a complicated garment structure, which is an extension of his entire thought process. The language of form, line, color and texture is his means of communication.

LOURDES ATENCIO. A native of the Dominican Republic, Lourdes Atencio is a visionary designer with a sophisticated taste for fashion and the fine arts. Lourdes’s designs are progressive yet elegant, appealing to glamorous women of all ages. In 1991, Lourdes launched the Avant-Elite design label that caters to an exclusive clientele including top models, media personnel and socialites. Her designs have been featured on the Despierta America and Primer Impacto television programs. Aero Mar and Falcon Airlines have commissioned Lourdes to design their work and leisure uniforms.

Since 1995, Lourdes’s designs have been featured in numerous beauty pageants and fashion shows. Prestigious London publisher Co & Bear recently featured some of Lourdes’s stunning designs in the hefty coffee table book I Do: 100 Years of Wedding Fashion. Selected for their exquisite workmanship and innovative spin on traditional form, photos of Lourdes’s wedding gowns appear in the book along with those of top designers including Christian Dior, Betsey Johnson, Yves Saint Laurent and many others. For the new millennium, Lourdes Atencio (Avant-Elite Designs) and Peter of London Salons and Spa have entered into a strategic alliance to launch new designs for the woman of the new era: independent, progressive, educated and highly sophisticated.

The next series of shows are scheduled for September 7-10, 2003 in New York City. For the September 2003 event, USA International Fashion Shows will present the first International Fashion Designer Award to an established fashion designer who is distinguished by his/her creativity, accomplishments and contributions to social and business endeavors.

Negotiations are currently underway with a number of prominent companies in a variety of fields regarding sponsorship of the event. Many businesses are recognizing the valuable marketing potential of the event for their respective products and services, including travel-related services, cosmetics and hair care products, print publications, liquor and soft drinks, and fashion-related companies such as fabric, notion, jewelry and accessories businesses.

The event is an Andres Aquino production sponsored by Fashion Syndicate Press. Fashion Syndicate Press photographers have covered designer runway shows in South America, Canada, New York, South Africa and Europe since 1997, with fashion photography and articles appearing in hundreds of magazines, newspapers and books worldwide. The company owns over 25 web sites, one of which — fashionshowroom.com — receives some 5 million hits per month making it one of the most visited fashion web sites. This formidable Internet presence greatly helps in marketing the designers participating in the USA International Fashion Shows. The background of producer Andres Aquino includes over 20 years in international business, fashion photography and event production.

PERSIAN CENTER BRIDGES “FROM IRAN TO ARGENTINA” WITH THE IRANIAN

GUITAR DUO

Event at San Francisco’s Herbst Theatre on Sept. 14,2003 dedicated to the victims of Sept. 11, 2001

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — September 3, 2003 —- Persian Center (http://www.persiancenter.org)proudly presents a night of music and dance, featuring the Iranian Guitar Duo, Babak and Pedram Falsafi (http://iranianguitarduo.com/),Sunday,September 14, 2003, at San Francisco’s Herbst theater http://www.performances.org/theaters/herbst.asp).

The brothers plan to shatter preconceived notions of the sounds of the classical guitar, as they take the audience on a journey “From Iran to Argentina”, with intricately woven music from these regions. For the traditional Persian music lovers, there will also be a complex composition for two guitars and Iranian drums (tombak & daff) played by Kamran Modirian, accompanied by Niosha Dance Academy (http://www.niosha.com).

The visual delights will continue as tango dancers Sandor and Parissa (http://www.sandorparissa.com/) perform to the Iranian Guitar Duo’s romantic sounds from South America.

Tickets are available through City Box Office at 415-392-4400 or

http://www.cityboxoffice.com.

Babak and Pedram Falsafi formed the Iranian Guitar Duo after many years exploring Iranian and Middle Eastern music on the classical guitar. Babak studied the guitar in Tehran with renowned guitar teacher Bagher Moazen and later at the Prague Conservatory of Music with Milan Zelenka, while Pedram immigrated to the United States and became a lifetime guitar and composition student of Dusan Bogdanovic. The brothers, who reunited in San Francisco, shared that “traveling, learning foreign languages, and meeting many artists worldwide has helped us appreciate different cultures, traditions and art forms, and has had an impact on our music.” Although influenced by numerous classical music recordings including Bach’s Cantatas and Mozart’s Concertos, they remain eager to learn more about other styles of music such as popular and folk.

From traditional to modern music and dance, the evening ventures to create dialogue and bring understanding and appreciation among various cultures, without the spoken word. This event is dedicated to the victims of the September 11th, 2001 and all other innocent victims of violence in history. Shahin Tabrizi, Persian Center Board Member, commented that “lives have been shortened and dreams have been shattered because of the belief that taking an innocent life in pursuit of one’s own ideology is justified. Let us hope that there will be a day when we realize that there is no cause greater, no commitment more important, and no aspiration more precious than honoring a life.”

The Persian Center is a non-profit organization with a mission to create an environment in which to conduct social, cultural, educational, and recreational activities designed to strengthen the sense of identity and integrity of all Iranians and Iranian descendants, and to engage individuals interested in or related to Persian community and culture.

The Gotan Project Brings Their Dazzling Tango Electronica to UCLA Live, with L.A.’s daKAH Hip-Hop Orchestra, Oct. 18

(PRWEB) October 10, 2003

LOS ANGELES— The Paris-based Gotan Project brings its soulful and fiery fusion of classic tango melodies, dub and electronica to UCLA’s Royce Hall at

8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003. Presented by UCLA Live, The Gotan Project will be joined by Los Angeles’ 50-plus member daKAH Hip-Hop Symphonic Orchestra. This performance is approximately three hours with an intermission. For tickets call 310-825-2101 or visit http://www.UCLAlive.org.

In addition to Gotan’s principal members, including DJ/producer Philippe Cohen Solal, DJ Christophe Mueller on computers, and tango guitarist Eduardo Makaroff, the lineup features Cristina Vilallonga, vocals; Serge Amico, bandonéon; Arnaldo Zanelli, piano; and Line Kruse, violin.

With sales currently in excess of 600,000 copies worldwide, Gotan Project’s acclaimed “La Revancha Del Tango” was released domestically on Beggars XL in April 2003, featuring their jazz-house hit “Triptico.” Their remix of Sarah Vaughn’s classic, “Whatever Lola Wants” on the “Verve Remixed 2” compilation, featuring today’s greatest DJs remixing the legends of jazz, has enjoyed much airplay on alternative music programs. In addition, their music will be featured in the first episode of “CSI Miami” on CBS this fall.

These French dance producers turned world music crusaders are well on their way to invading the record boxes of DJs around the world. Left-looking spinners including Gilles Peterson, Thievery Corporation, Peter Kruder, UFO, Jazzanova, Rainer Trüby, Herbert and Mr. Scruff have all been championing Gotan’s continent-crossing fusion of tango, dub and beats since their debut single “El Capitalismo Foraneo” was released in January, 2000.

A Los Angeles phenomenon, daKAH is the world’s largest hip-hop orchestra featuring 58 musicians and almost every instrument imaginable. Led by Maestro Double G, daKAH has featured many of hip-hop’s greatest musicians including Macy Gray, Nikka Costa and members of the Breakestra and Black Eyed Peas.

Like a strange, mongrel beast, dance club music will feed off anything: salsa, Brazilian samba, Afrobeat, and now tango. In its native Argentina, the tango is the music of revolution, both sexual and political. It is Argentina’s pop, jazz and its folk music all rolled into one. It’s music that came from the barrios and swept the high societies of Europe in the early 20th century. The second tango invasion came much later: in the late 1970s, when the country’s right wing military junta forced many left wing musicians to flee and find refuge in more liberal cities like Paris.

“There has always been a big tango scene in Paris,” says Gotan founder Philippe Cohen Solal. Indeed the word Gotan itself is just “tango” said in Buenos Aires’ Verlan slang—the Argentinean underworld’s equivalent of old fashioned London argot like backslang. “In Verlan they use the word Gotan to mean tango,” explains Cohen Solal, “there was a tango club in Paris called Gotan in the 60’s.”

Employing some of the finest tango musicians in Europe, Cohen Solal and fellow Gotan projectors Mueller and Makaroff allowed them to freestyle around a theme—then returned to the studio to edit the jams into a seductive tango dub.

“We are not scared of treating or filtering the musicians,” they say. “We’re ‘using’ electronic tricks to make the tango more accessible and that’s why it works. We don’t want to do deep house, with long solos on top of that—it’s really boring. The improvisation has to come back to real melodies and bring melodies back into dance music. We love dub, we love soundtrack music, and we wanted to discover something surprising that nobody would expect.”

With cover versions of the theme from “Last Tango In Paris,” and a dubbed-out take on Frank Zappa’s “Chunga’s Revenge,” this is willfully weird but strangely compelling music that ignores both geographical and musical borders.

Cohen Solal has spent the last 10 years working as a musical supervisor, collaborating with film directors such as Lars Von Trier (on “Europa”), Jean-Baptiste Mondino and Nikita Yolande Zauberman (“Clubbed to Death”), before hooking up with mutual Mueller and veteran Argentinean émigré and musician Makaroff.

A veteran guitarist and singer who has already recorded 12 albums, Makaroff has written and played on film soundtracks and presented TV shows in his native Buenos Aries. He came to Paris in 1990, where he’s fronted the tango group Tango Mano and conducted the orchestra for the Paris tango club Dancing de la Coupole.

“We wanted to work together for a long time,” explains Cohen Solal, “and then Eduardo made me discover the really percussive, groovy side of Argentinean music. We wanted to do something we really loved, with no compromise or thinking about selling to others.”

Drawing upon influences from jazz, funk, European classical, hip-hop, rock and Latin music, daKAH Hip-Hop Orchestra has won critical raves and a loyal following for their recordings and live performances since its inception in 1999. Musically speaking, the sound is like a spice rack, featuring several flavors, aromas, herbs, seasonings, and applications. Orchestral instruments swing on dance rhythms to create the genre-defining sound of symphonic hip-hop. Individuals bring their unique talent to the center stage, while Maestro Double G directs the traffic. Most importantly, they have demonstrated a previously uncharted potential for both the hip-hop house party and the symphony orchestra.

This event is supported by the Henry Mancini Tribute Fund at UCLA.

(PRWEB) December 10, 2003

PITTSBURGH – Dec. 10, 2003 – The word from London is in, and Ripple Effects Interactive’s Web site has been declared wickedly good. So says the London International Advertising Awards (LIAA) competition, which recently honored the Pittsburgh-based interactive marketing agency with a certificate of merit for its corporate site, http://www.RippleEffectsInteractive.com, at its annual ceremony.

The Ripple Effects Interactive Web site optimizes user experience by incorporating visually captivating design created in Flash, with multimedia features such as music. Information is structured in an intuitive navigation scheme, and users can find a portfolio of the agency’s projects along with testimonials from past clients such as former Pennsylvania governor Tom Ridge.

“We are very proud of our site and of this award,” said Louis Malafarina, chief executive officer at Ripple Effects Interactive. “Our site’s objective has always been to showcase the work of our great team in a way that allows visitors to experience for themselves our design expertise and capabilities. Being one of the very few entries chosen out of the many thousands from around the globe is very nice indeed.”

Ripple Effects Interactive’s award came in the category of “Self-Promotion,” in which the agency competed against global ad industry players such as Euro RSCG. This year, entries were received from more than 70 countries around the world, including Russia, France, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, Australia, India, Hong Kong, Japan, South Africa, Venezuela, Argentina, Mexico, Canada and the United States. Other winners in the interactive media competition included Nike, Bacardi, Audi, IKEA and the American Legacy Foundation.

“Our awards are among the most prestigious for creative excellence in advertising and design,” said Barbara Levy, president of LIAA.

The LIAA award is the not first for Ripple Effects Interactive’s Web site. The site won the Addy competitions in both Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

The LIAA was founded in 1985 to honor the world’s most creative television/cinema commercials, print advertisements, package design and radio commercials. The program now includes interactive media and the medium of design. In the last five years, an average of more than 17,000 entries were submitted from nearly 80 countries.

Tango Art Event Turns Up The Heat - With a Latin Beat.

Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) January 16, 2004

The Tango’s origins go back to the 19th century, somewhere around the 1870’s, when it was born and developed in the working class suburbs outside the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Today, Tango is a world in itself – sensual, poignant, and often symbolizing Latin culture – we see it represented in music, dance, song, poetry and art. It is an extraordinary phenomenon of customs, celebrated around the world.

In honour of the season, Eleonora Dufault and Janet Wilkinson of Mondo d’ Arte have assembled an intriguing collection of monotypes, watercolours, acrylics, and mixed media from four recognized Argentine artists: Ida Olijavetsky, Juan Manuel Sanchez, Nora Patrich and Violeta Borisonik.

Tango demonstrations will be danced by Brigitte and Francis Caron, owners and instructors at Siempre Tango. They’ve extended a warm welcome to visitors, and, say the Carons, “Those attending the event, who also like to Tango, are invited to remain and dance after 9 pm.”

So whether you love the dance, the art, the people or the just the pulse of all things Latin, the event promises an unusual escape from the cold.

Park anywhere in the Byward Market, and if you hunt patiently, street parking is free on Saturday. Look for a single door on the north side of Rideau (just east of The Bay). You’ll climb 3 flights of stairs, but – it’s worth it. Please bring indoor footwear; they’re “a must” for the hardwood floor.

BOSTON, MA and VANCOUVER BC (PRWEB) January 29, 2004

Global Mechanic’s executive producer Matthew Charde announced today the signing of two veteran animation directors to its roster. Dan Sousa and Rich Ferguson-Hull both will join Global Mechanic and be represented for commercial production on a worldwide basis. This news comes on the heels of the studio going bi-coastal; in late 2003, Global Mechanic opened a studio in the United States in order to serve its increased business in commercial, television production, and independent film work. With facilities in both coasts, as well as a bolstered roster of talent, Global Mechanic can produce any type of commercial, television or film project from its Vancouver headquarters as well as from its Boston studios.

Daniel Sousa has been directing commercials and films for nearly 10 years. He graduated from The Rhode Island School of Design where he studied painting and animation. He spent 6 years at Olive Jar Studios (Boston and Los Angeles) as a Director and Animator then directed freelance for Circle Studios. Meanwhile, he taught at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, co-founded Handcranked Film Projects (http://www.handcrankedfilm.com, a collaborative of New England film-makers), and produced his award-winning short, Minotaur (1999.). Currently he is teaching at RISD and working on a new independent film which is being funded by LEF Foundation’s Moving Image Fund. Daniel animates in cel, drawn, 3D CGI, and mixed-media.

Dan’s commercial directing credits include six Nestle Quik Bunny commercials produced for McCann-Erickson and many of the “Marsha Campaign” commercials for Marshall’s and Hill Holliday. In addition, Dan has directed individual spots for Kemper Financial Services for Foote Cone Belding, and numerous promos, shorts and IDs for Cartoon Network. His work includes a huge portfolio of character animation work with the likes of Bugs Bunny, The Power Puff Girls, and various other Looney Toon and Hanna-Barbera favorites. Dan has been the key animator on commercials for Coke, Samsung, NBC, Frito Lay, Kraft, and Pringles. He has animated with voice talent that includes Tracey Ullman and John Lithgow and shot in locations throughout the US, in Argentina and in South Africa.

Rich Ferguson-Hull has been animating as long as he can remember- but has been directing commercials since 1993. He attended The School of The Museum of Fine Arts and received his degree from Wesleyan University where he studied both animation and film. He spent 8 years as a Director and Animator at Olive Jar Studios (Boston and Los Angeles), half of which he served as the studios’ associate creative director. Rich works in cel, 3D CGI and Stop Motion.

Rich’s commercial directing credits include work for Kraft, Pillsbury, Staples and Citibank, for the ad agencies J. Walter Thompson, Leo Burnett, Euro RSCG and Young & Rubicam. In addition Rich has directed and animated work for both Universal Studios and Disneyland Theme Parks, two animation pilots for Cartoon Network and one for Fox Networks, as well as numerous network promos and IDs for TCM and Cartoon Network. Additional credits for Rich include director and key animator on projects for Coke, PBS’s Between the Lions, Monster.com and many others for agencies which include Arnold Worldwide, Lowe, and FCB. In addition to Rich’s commercial work, he currently is directing episodic television programming.

Bruce Alcock, Global Mechanic’s founder and Creative Director is “thrilled with the addition of these two guys. With both Dan and Rich working with us, we have now completely rounded out our animation offerings as a production company. They are two of the best cel and character animators working today- add in their talents as directors and experience in long-format production to the team we have in place and oh, the places we’ll go!”

Dan and Rich will join the roster that already includes Bruce Alcock, Marv Newland, Nathaniel Akin, and Ann Marie Fleming.

Recent Global Mechanic projects include: a nine spot broadcast campaign for Bell Mobility and ReThink Advertising, television commercial work for Dove (Unilever) and Leo Burnett. Guy Michetti To Perform At New York City Auto Show

(PRWEB) April 11, 2004

Michetti (http://www.guymichetti.com) was picked, along with other independent musicians, to play at the event by the premier online company http://www.sonicbids.com that puts venues and independent artists together. His new and eagerly awaited album “A New York City Life” is near completion. The release date will be announced shortly. In the meantime, Michetti’s EP I’m Coming Home , released at the end of last year, has been selling well online and at live performances and has generated record company interest.

As an independent musician, Guy relies on the internet as well as live performances to get his music heard. His music is available on his own, web site http://www.guymichetti.com and several other online music portals such as http://www.songplanet.com , http://www.soundclick.com and he has been a featured artist at http://www.mp3unsigned.com

The song I’M COMING HOME on the EP of the same name, (available at CD BABY http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/michetti) about a wounded soldier coming home from Iraq, has generated almost unbelievable global interest. The song has been downloaded and streamed by people from an ever increasing list of countries:

Said Michetti, “I’m still so surprised that so many people from around the world accessed this song online and actually took the time to order it as well. The internet is an amazing thing when it works!”

A fellow singer/songwriter Jeff Crandall described Michetti’s music when he heard it over at http://www.garageband.com this way:

It’s like a bunch of great rock singers and bands rolled into one. This song reminds me of Bob Geldof, The Clash, Bob Dylan, The Waterboys, The Hothouse Flowers, Tom Petty, and on and on. But it doesn’t sound derivative of any, just reminiscent – like you belong in their company. I really love your voice. I’m sure this is the best vocal I’ve heard on Garageband (and I’ve heard a lot of them). The vocalist really permeates and carries this piece, so much so that I’m not thinking about any of the other parts. When I do stop to think about them, they are obviously well-played, thoughtful parts. Everything fits great. The mix, arrangement, lyrics, and production are all fantastic. Overall, this is one of the most perfect songs, in all aspects, that I’ve heard on Garageband. It deserves to be on the “Best Of” albums of any of the artists I mentioned at the top of this review. High marks all around! I wish you the very, very best! Jeff Crandall http://www.ashlandnetwork.com/jeffcrandall

Bruno Sanfilippo music Suite Patagonia Is dedicated to the incredible histories that harboured the lands of the Patagonia, south of Argentina. The Cacique Sayhueque, the Patagonian Giant’s myth, the admiration of the colonists before an unknown fauna, the contact between the native ones and Magellan’s men, curious histories that touch with the magic and the fantasy, full with myths fed by old conquerors, scanners and adventurers. The colourful autochthonous instrumentation with aboriginal songs, sounds of the southern fauna, the European vision of a time, of a place, of numberless histories and legends.

On June 2000, is released my fourth album; “Suite Patagonia”. A tribute in which I also used autochthonous instruments, aborigines chants and sounds from the southern fauna. Bruno Sanfilippo

The Indie Rock Band - Argentine - Debut CD "In Other Fictions" to be Released 8/23/04 Through Pehr Records Distribution

Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) August 7, 2004

Argentine means silver. Or it is a silver fish (also: Argentina Silas or Silver Smelt). You could also note Pericles, Prince of Tyre: “Celestial Dian, goddess argentine, I will obey thee!” But that still just means silver. None of the three members have been to Argentina. Most would like to.

Formed from the early starts of Ian Carpenter (vocals, guitars) & Nat Guy’s (guitar & bass) collaborations – this Brooklyn band has grown to 5 members – Timothy Quigley(Drummer/Percussionist), Marcus Smith (Bass, Keyboards, Guitar) and Chris Curtis (almighty viola) – incorporating all their distilled influences together and adding their own aesthetic verve – from Yo La Tengo to Mojave3 to Death Cab for Cutie and Low comparisons – all mixed up to make what is now the Argentine sound – Argentine – the band. Their debut CD “In Other Fictions” was recorded in 2003 and is now being distributed internationally thru Pehr Records Distribution come late summer 2004. With “In Other Fictions” getting its international distro release Argentine plans to support the CD through more shows in and out of New York City and also garner more great press (see PRESS section) and radioplay. Currently the band resides in Brooklyn, NY and is working on new songs – while also supporting “In Other Fictions” – for a 2nd album to be recorded sometime in the future.

The album was recorded initially in a secluded Chinatown basement. When electrical gremlins arrived the operation moved to a tucked-away Long Island City loft with barking dogs and noisy plumbing. The 8 song album was put together surprisingly quickly despite the setbacks. Charles Burst of The Occasion recorded and mixed the album and Argentine couldn’t be happier with the results. Gene Paul, the seasoned vet with an ear of silver, mastered.

Argentine is Ian Carpenter, Nat Guy, Marcus Smith, Chris Curtis and Timothy Quigley.

Ian Carpenter: Ian sings and plays guitar in Argentine. He has the clean, clear, languid lines from his Tele unless its time for distortion. One of founders of Argentine he contributes alot to the band’s sound and aesthetic.

Nat Guy: Nat plays guitar and bass in Argentine. Nat also makes things for Argentine like the album design and Argentine’s website.

Timothy Quigley: Mr. Quigley plays drums and percussion and also found the good sense to contribute glockenspiel, Wurlitzer and guitar to the album.

Marcus Smith – A newer and great contributing member. Bass, Guitar, Keyboards, Backing Vocals

Chris Curtis – The presence of Chris cannot be understated on his instrument. Really really beautiful. – Viola

Purchase Michael Moushon’s new album now at Aware Store!

Michael Moushon has performed at The House of Blues, Soldier Field and on the C.B.S. network (also composed songs for their underscoring). Moushon is receiving radio airplay as well as performing nationally and internationally in Japan & Canada.

Michael Moushon Biography:

Born in Evanston, IL, adopted and raised by a young couple in Westmont, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, Michael Moushon, singer/songwriter began to realize his love for music at an early age. The son of music lovers, he spent much of his time around the house listening to artists such as The Beach Boys, James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles.

While listening to such greats, Michael was working on his own musical abilities. “I remember playing my father’s trombone and the family piano very often at an early age.” He continued to learn new instruments one after another, and hasn’t stopped yet. Moushon took on the challenge of learning how to play the saxophone, then the drums. Michael remembers, “I used to go home after school and sit in my room listening to AC/DC’s “Back in Black” album, from my father’s record collection, while banging on a drum set my parents bought for me.”

It wasn’t until the age of thirteen that Moushon discovered his love for guitar and voice. Just two years later Michael began writing his first songs and developing his skills for the craft of songwriting. Not long after, he started to perform regularly and became known for his musical abilities

In 1997 Moushon left home to study music at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. He then received extensive training in the areas of commercial, jazz and classical voice, as well as guitar, piano and various percussion instruments. In 1999, Michael just nineteen years old left for NYC to study voice with Katie Agresta and work in the recording and engineering industry at Image Recording Studios. Moushon then ventured out to Los Angeles in 2000 to study voice with Gloria Bennett at UCLA and intern for Sugarhill and Vanguard Records.

Moushon’s growing desire for writing songs led him to pursue performances of his original material. Michael began playing regularly at various venues around the country. His performances have ranged from bars, colleges and universities, restaurants, resorts, clubs, hotels, parties, charity events and conferences all over the country. Moushon has composed as well as performed his songs for network television and other stations in Illinois.

Moushon admits, “Traveling around the country and abroad has made me want to perform and write music that will in some way speak to and touch the different types of people represented in my audiences.”

Moushon moved to Boston in January of 2002, to attend Berklee College of Music to study as a voice principle, and to continue furthering his career in music. Michaels current band consists of players from South America, Asia and Europe.

Moushon performs his original music, a blend of jazz chords, pop melodies in the context of a rock band, at his concerts all over the country and abroad. He feels at home on stage, and puts every part of himself into each performance. In his young career as a singer/songwriter, Michael Moushon is at all times determined and motivated to craft innovative and fresh ways to reach people.

Band Description:

Michael Moushon formed in 2003 in Boston at Berklee College of Music. We are: Ignacio Long (Bass, Argentina) Andy Bauer (Drums, Wisconsin) Andrew Lim (Lead Guitar, Singapore) Michel Reisz (Keys, Luxembourg) & Michael Moushon (Vocals/Guitar, Illinois).

WALL HALL is an art project. The purpose is for audience to visualize the definition of ART. Since 1993, Bert Hewener- Esenherz has continued to fight the term contemporary art.

“Art is the progressive process which defines the cutting edge and expresses the momentary thought or feeling in the most unique manner.” (Esenherz 1993)

WALL HALL is a performance where the artist shows the full creative process of art. The produced artwork builds the illusion of a complex installation. The daily progress of the work and all connected stories will be captured on video. The Wall Hall project found first recognition in Berlin in 1994, Zuerich in 1995, London 1995, Amsterdam 1996, Stuttgart 1997, New York 1998, Brooklyn 1999/ 2000 and in Los Angeles in 2002.

Bert Hewener-Esenherz is a Berlin born New York painter and filmmaker. He graduated visual arts at the Academy of Muenster in 1992. His paintings and movies are entirely dedicated to the expression of daily life in urban enviroment of Brooklyn and Manhattan. In 2001 Bert walked a large painting (7×5 ft) from New York to Denver, Co. He covered a distance 0f 2023 miles in 93 days. The purpose of his journey was to help people discover the artist within themselves, as well as, to support local artists throughout the country. His paintings are in collections of people in the US, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, South Africa, Japan, China, Australia, Germany, Spain, UK, France, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Luxemburg, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, Austria, Israel and Lybia.

David Hinnebusch, born in Pittsburgh, PA. in 1964, moved from Tanzania, East Africa to Los Angeles in 1968 and except for living in East Africa an additional year in 1970, has lived and worked on the West-side of Los Angeles since. A creator from childhood, Hinnebusch has made music, film, books, now a clothing line and in the last ten years a huge body of paintings which recently have found their way into the collections of people and non- people internationally. Through showing and selling on Oceanfront Walk in Venice, California, Hinnebusch continues to follow his own path making art and has been rewarded handsomely for the effort. As for Wall Hall “I’m very excited to go paint with Bert- he’s a real New York artist – I guess I’ll be serving Hinnebiscuits at Wall Hall.”
