Bowery Poetry Club: "Dancing Tango With Maria" Featuring Maria Cangiano, Vocals, Octavio Brunetti, Piano and Victor Prieto, Accordion

(PRWEB) May 17, 2005

Dancing With Maria: Tango Music and Milonga Night.

A new generation of Tango/Jazz musicians come together to interpret old and new tango songs from Discepolo to Piazzolla on May 26, 10pm @ New York’s famous Bowery Poetry Club. The Argentine singer, Maria Cangiano, who did her debut at Joe’s Pub in April, 2005, with her show “Tango & Beyond,” combines drama and singing in her interpretation of old and new Tango songs as “mini-operas” or melodramatic stories. Called by her many fans, “Anna Magnani with voice,” Ms. Cangiano, originally from Argentina, has a unique voice within Argentine Tango’s new generation of musicians.

“The depth and power of Maria Cangiano’s woeful, soulful voice brings the nostalgic nature of the music to life,” Brooklyn Press, 2002. The Argentine pianist, Octavio Brunetti, has performed in very important tango groups, such as Bernardo Monk’s Mass Tango and Pablo Aslan’s Avantango among others. In 2004 he got the first award as piano performer at the first New York Tango Competition.

The Spanish Jazz avant-garde accordionist, Victor Prieto has performed with Paquito D’Rivera, Oscar Stagnaro, David Sammuels, Mark Walker, Diego Urcola, Raul Jaurena, Lilonel Loueke among others, He teaches Master Classes in Spain, Italy, Portugal and USA.

The night combines a musical performance and a Milonga, Tango dancing, afterwards. The Bowery Poetry Club will offer a special Argentine Menu for the night.
