"The Latin Hurricane – Chayanne, releases his first DVD and a new English CD”

Dubbed “The Latin Hurricane” (PRWEB) October 10, 2002 -

Miami, Fla. –out concert after another, Puerto Rican singing star, Chayanne, has launched his first, long-awaited DVD. At the same time, he is taking an important step into the Anglo pop music market with a new single — the English version of his hit song, “Y Tu Te Vas”(“You Walk Away”).

The DVD of his latest “Grandes Exitos” (Greatest Hits) album was released in the United States on September 17th, and is currently being released in Mexico, Argentina, and other important global markets over the next few weeks. Like the album, it contains a compilation of videos of Chayanne’s best hits of the past, 13 videos in all.

Long awaited by thousands of fans the world over, the DVD also contains an interview, photo gallery, biography, discography and “behind the scenes” looks at the star, and other high points of his 22 year career as an entertainer. The DVD is a production of Sony Music International/LAR-Miami DVD’s. It is currently available in music outlets across the country and on the Internet including Wherehouse Music, Amazon.com, Best Buy, and CDNOW.com. Grandes Exitos DVD is also available in VHS form at the same outlets.

Chaf Enterprises, Chayanne’s management company located in Miami, Fla., also announced that he has recorded the English version of his Latin hit, “Y Tu Te Vas”, a single that was a chart-topper across the country for 21 weeks and has been on the Top 10 list for 30 weeks, on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks. It’s the opening song on his Grandes Exitos album, which also includes two other new songs, “Quisiera Ser” (“He Wanted To Be”) and “Torero” (“The Bullfighter”), currently holding down the top selling slot in many Latin countries today.

To be released by Sony Discos to the American mainstream, Anglo, radio stations within the next few weeks, the new English single, titled You Walk Away will mark Chayanne’s first totally non-Hispanic pop entry since beginning his musical career as a child star singing with the Latin group, Los Chicos (The Boys). Lauded as being one of the best Latin pop performers of today, the dynamic singer has more than 50 gold and 20 platinum Spanish albums already to his credit.

In the midst of his 5-month long “World Tour 2002” (following a highly successful 10-city appearance schedule in the U.S.), Chayanne was asked recently in Spain, why he feels the need to record in English. The 34-year-old star said, ” No, it’s not that it is needed, but it is important to embrace more languages, to extend to more markets. I have also recorded in Italian, French and in Portuguese…to sing in English I see like an expansion of my career.”

Chayanne, this darkly handsome, muscular, singer/actor/dancer is best known in the U.S. for making a big splash with his steamy starring role in the 1998 Columbia Pictures film, “Dance With Me”, (Bailar Conmigo) co-starring the beautiful Vanessa L. Williams and the former singer-turned-actor, Kris Kristofferson. Reruns on cable TV brought even more Anglo fans to his court. This is true especially on the Internet where there are three major web sites of fans, Chayfans.org, Islachayanne.org and Cafechayanne.com, dedicated to spreading the word about their idol and his career, in addition to a Sony Discos site.

Chayanne was also highly praised last season, when he appeared in two episodes of the popular Fox TV series, Ally McBeal. He thrilled his Hispanic fans last season, by starring in a soap opera, novela series,”Provocame” (“You Provoke Me”) on Latin television in many different countries around the world. In addition, he was recently nominated for the Top Male Singer of the Year award for “Y Tu Te Vas,” in the “Los Premios Oye,” ( What You Hear Award or The Best Sound Award ) to be given out on Nov. 26, by the Mexican Association of Producers of Fonogramas, (AMPROFON) and CIE, a television spectacles company.

When Chayanne completes his world tour in the fall, he is expected to return to the recording studio to produce a new crossover album, this one containing several songs in English.

Tango Art Event Turns Up The Heat - With a Latin Beat.

Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) January 16, 2004

The Tango’s origins go back to the 19th century, somewhere around the 1870’s, when it was born and developed in the working class suburbs outside the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Today, Tango is a world in itself – sensual, poignant, and often symbolizing Latin culture – we see it represented in music, dance, song, poetry and art. It is an extraordinary phenomenon of customs, celebrated around the world.

In honour of the season, Eleonora Dufault and Janet Wilkinson of Mondo d’ Arte have assembled an intriguing collection of monotypes, watercolours, acrylics, and mixed media from four recognized Argentine artists: Ida Olijavetsky, Juan Manuel Sanchez, Nora Patrich and Violeta Borisonik.

Tango demonstrations will be danced by Brigitte and Francis Caron, owners and instructors at Siempre Tango. They’ve extended a warm welcome to visitors, and, say the Carons, “Those attending the event, who also like to Tango, are invited to remain and dance after 9 pm.”

So whether you love the dance, the art, the people or the just the pulse of all things Latin, the event promises an unusual escape from the cold.

Park anywhere in the Byward Market, and if you hunt patiently, street parking is free on Saturday. Look for a single door on the north side of Rideau (just east of The Bay). You’ll climb 3 flights of stairs, but – it’s worth it. Please bring indoor footwear; they’re “a must” for the hardwood floor.

Telenovelas have transcended language barriers and territorial borders. The Latin American phenomenon has been the subject of many interesting articles in the press recently. They are often dubbed or subtitled for non-Spanish speaking viewers, attracting a diverse audience that range in the billions from the United States to Russia, Argentina to China, Afghanistan to Greece. Each series runs an average of six months with plots that touches on social issues, love, wickedness and the triumph of good over evil.

Starring Barbara Mori, Eduardo Santamaria, Jaqueline Bracamontes and Sebastian Rulli, RUBI has all the ingredients of a Hollywood script, from passion to greed, desire, treachery and murder. It is the story of a girl, blessed with beauty instead of money that is determined to use her looks and malice in order to marry a wealthy man who can offer her the life of luxury she is after at the expense of everyone around her.

While on the air in the United States, RUBI, became one of the favorite girls that everyone loved to hate. It was crowned as the # 2 telenovela of all times (second to Amor Real) and sparked an avalanche of controversy and hundreds of online postings worldwide.

RealTravel Reveals Top Ten Ways to Love Latin America

Los Altos, CA (PRWEB) August 2, 2007

RealTravel (http://realtravel.com ), a travel blogging and travel guide site that helps more than half a million people plan trips with advice from other travelers every month, today announces top 10 ways to love Latin America, according to RealTravel editors and blogger Ciccia.

1) Learn to speak Spanish.

One fantastic ability that people have is the gift of communication. Though its not necessary for a trip to South or Central America, it can certainly enhance your travels. And you dont need to be fluent before you arrive, either, as language courses are offered in plenty. Ciccia writes in her travel blog: Some of my most amazing experiences have been simply speaking to normal people on the bus, in isolated villages or shady plazas. If you want to really discover something amazing, try to get past language barriers and embrace a way of thinking and a culture that is so far removed from what you know. I had a few lessons at the Academia Latinoamericana de Espanol in Sucre, Bolivia. I would recommend this school for its professionalism, its price ($ 5 to $ 10 US depending on group size) and the variety of other cultural activities they have such as salsa and cookery.

2) Immerse yourself in culture.

A great way to experience another persons way of life is to become involved in cultural exchanges. I visited Isla Amantani on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca, Ciccia shares, and I stayed with a family who had not changed their lives to fit in with modern ways. Their farming techniques, their dress, and their customs have not changed for centuries. The family treated me as a daughter and talked about how difficult life can be on this splash of land in the worlds highest inland sea. I would also encourage staying in a Casa Particolar in Cuba if possible, as you will meet the most sincere people around.

3) Dance!

A trip to any country in Central or South American will be lacking unless you put your dancing shoes on and partake in the dancing culture. Learn how to salsa in Cuba, to tango on the streets of Buenos Aires, or to samba in Rio de Janeiro. Dancing can feel infectious throughout the continent. Ciccia shares a story about a night out in Cordoba, Argentina: This city is brimming with students who make it their mission to party all night every night. I was taken to what can only be described as a refugee shelter where the young and beautiful come to dance to live Quarteto music. I have never seen so many people dance!

4) Taste the food.

If travel is about discovery, then why not send your taste buds on their own adventure along the way? Food and drink are an essential part of Latin American culture. While visiting Venezuela I have become addicted to fried yucca and green plantain, writes Ciccia. I have also never quite been able to get over how good the meat is in Argentina and how fabulous Chilean wine is. Peru has some delights too; anything Creole is delicious! Eating and drinking are to be enjoyed with new-found friends so why not accept that invitation to drink with a mate in Argentina to the strumming of a guitar in the park? If you go to Lima visit Baranco, the artisans neighbourhood, to sample national Peruvian dishes at a daily food market. The desserts will actually make you think you have died and gone to heavens kitchen. Check your South American travel guide to get some great dining ideas.

5) Learn to love nature.

South and Central America have some of the most diverse landscapes in the world. One example of a unique terrain is the Salt Flats of Uyuni. Ciccia describes her experience visiting Uyuni in her travel blog: This vast terrain of nothingness tricks you into thinking that you have stepped into a hall of mirrors and leaves you feeling that this land full of contradictions has changed every notion you had of the Earth. Green, yellow, red, white and turquoise lakes and moon-like rocks will inspire you. Prepare yourself for the mythical flight of the condor, heights that will leave you literally breathless and apparently bottomless canyons.

6) Be adventurous.

Traveling is the perfect opportunity to try activities that you would never do at home. When creating your trip planner, leave room for the unexpected. Ciccia had her fair share of adventures: Though I felt as though my heart was going to leap out of my chest at any moment, sand buggying in the desert of Ica was one of the most thrilling activities ever. After a wild ride over what used to be a vast sea millions of years ago, we stopped and watched a perfect sunset before going home. Diving in Utila, Honduras is not only the cheapest place in the world to do this but also so much fun and stunningly beautiful. What I loved about diving was learning something so new and different to anything I could experience in my country.

7) Understand a regions history.

Learning about a countrys history yields a better understanding of its current state. Seek out museums, guided tours, or read books on the places you are visiting to enrich your experiences. The highlight of my trip was the Inca Trail in Peru, Ciccia shares. Not only is it a scenic hike but it is fundamental to Perus Incan past. Full of mystery and spirituality, Macchu Picchu was the home to the Incan intellectual elite. This fascinating walk left me in awe of a culture which apparently escaped to another dimension. Potosi in Bolivia is another interesting city if you are interested in colonial development, and Tikal in Guatamala is a breathtaking long lost Mayan city which peaks above the jungle canopy. To get a good idea of Incan history then I would highly recommend visiting the Museo de la Alta Montana in Salta, Argentina and the Museo del Inka in Cusco, Peru.

8) Be pro-active about poverty.

To add meaning to your travels, seek out volunteer opportunities. Ciccia writes: I chose to volunteer for Project Peru (http://www.projectperu.org.uk), an organization which has provided a home for a number of children born into extreme poverty and it organizes other social projects which directly benefit Perus most vulnerable sectors of society. If you are considering doing the Inca trail, why not get a few friends to sponsor you and use it to say thank you to a country which will offer you so much hospitality and warmth? I also visited Project Perus refuge in the shanty towns around Lima and I spent a few days entertaining (and being entertained by) the children there. Volunteering is a fantastic way to get yourself involved with local culture and to do something really productive with your time.

9) Accept things as they are.

Some travelers will find Latin America to move at a slower pace than what theyre accustomed to in their fast-paced lifestyles. Remind yourself that every culture has a different sense of time, and etiquette around schedules varies not only between areas of the world, but also from country to country within South and Central America. Understanding is key: find a travel guide for the country you are visiting and read about what to expect in terms of transportation, customs, and attitudes around time.

10) Find the time to take a break from the chaos of travel.

Travel can be tiring. Relaxation is the perfect antidote, and there is nowhere better than the Caribbean coast of Central America for that. Ciccia advises: My ultimate favourite spot for doing just that is Bocas del Toro in Panama. This group of islands gives you the option to party on Isla Colon or to mix exclusively with the locals on Isla Bastimento. There is not much to do there but sunbathe, visit paradise desert islands and snooze in a hammock as you watch the sun go down over the warm Caribbean ocean.

RealTraveler Ciccia, an England native, shares her travel stories in her blog, South and Central America in 5ish months.

Razorfish Debuts Research on Latin America"s New Digital Middle Class

Sao Paulo, Brazil (PRWEB) October 26, 2010

CMOs with global aspirations must understand a thriving New Digital Middle Class in the increasingly powerful Latin American economic markets, according to a new Razorfish report, The Stampede – Meet The New Digital Middle Class. The study was conducted in partnership with Terra, the largest online media company in Latin America.

The Stampede – Meet The New Digital Middle Class is a first-of-its kind study of so-called “Classe C” consumers, an important but misunderstood economic block fueling the growth of vibrant Latin American economies such as Brazil, a hot market for global expansion among businesses from Caterpillar to Louis Vuitton.

The report shatters many misconceptions about Classe C, which Razorfish has renamed “the New Digital Middle Class.” For instance, contrary to popular belief, digital – not television — is at the core of the New Digital Middle Class lifestyle, and women are the chief economic decision makers of the home.

The publication of The Stampede is especially significant because the business market in Latin America is growing rapidly, even as other areas of the world are still recovering from the economic recession. For instance, Citigroup released credit card data in July 2010 that showed consumers in Latin America increasing their spending 15% during the second quarter of this year, while U.S. consumer spending fell 7%*.

“Many Razorfish clients are exploring the possibility of expanding into Latin America, as it is currently one of the fastest growing markets in the world,” said Joe Crump, senior vp of strategy and planning at Razorfish. “The New Digital Middle Class is a large, untapped consumer group in the region, and understanding this group is crucial for marketers trying to connect with them via the right products, services, messages and experiences.”

With the support of Terra, Razorfish studied the behaviors of the New Digital Middle Class in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. This group represents the largest and fastest growing segment across these three countries, comprising 53% of the population in Brazil and 62% and 60% in Mexico and Argentina respectively. Such families earn about 3 to 10 times above the national minimum wage, represent billions of dollars in household income, and are the largest economic force in the region.

The study discovered two key insights about the New Digital Middle Class that will help marketers successfully build relationships with this group and deliver products and services that will resonate with them.

During the biennial 2011 Endeavor Entrepreneur Summit, the landmark event hosted by the global nonprofit organization that transforms emerging countries by support high-impact entrepreneurs, the official launch of IDEAME.com was announced as well as the successful completion of its first round of financing.

The fundamental goal of IDEAME.com is to provide financial support for creative and artistic Latin American talent in all their expressions turning their ideas into reality on a global stage. Through innovative social networking and value-added technological services, IDEAME.com will allow creatives and artists to share their ideas with an online community, providing those members with the opportunity to take an active role in the development and execution of various projects and initiatives all on one platform.

IDEAME.com will serve as the conduit for projects by local talent, which often fail to come to fruition due to lack of financing, to be shared and allow the public to participate in creative endeavors of interest and worthy of development, thus capitalizing on the spirit of community and stimulating local economies.

According to Sebastian Uchitel, general manager of IDEAME.com, The collective financing model, also known as crowdfunding, has grown exponentially in recent years thanks to social networking. Uchitel highlights that our platform seeks to secure financing for creative projects in Latin America in a variety of areas, including music, cinema, visual arts, design, fashion, innovation and technology. In the United States, sites like http://www.kickstarter.com and http://www.quirky.com, and international sites like http://www.verkami.com and http://www.pozible.com.au are already helping creative talent by raising millions of dollars in financing in exchange for gifts and other rewards. We are adapting those successful models on a global level to meet the needs of artists and creative talent in Latin America.

The company has secured the support of a group of investors of notable prestige with a solid track record in online and creative throughout the region. Among the investors are Eduardo Costantini Jr. (who served as executive director of the MALBA Museum for five years, cofounder of MUBI and president of Costa Films), Boris Hirmas Said (vice chairman of Yellow Pepper and a member of the Latin American Committee of the Tate Museum in London) and Wenceslao Casares (founder of Patagon and Bling Nation), just to name a few of the most prominent investors, added Mariano Suarez Battan, the renowned entrepreneur who sold his company Three Melons to Playdom/Disney in 2010 and one of the cofounders of IDEAME.com.

There is an extraordinary pool of creative and innovative talent in Latin America which faces obstacles to find funding. IDEAME.com will fill that void by providing the necessary resources for those artists to turn their dreams into reality, and we think its a great initiative, said Eduardo Costantini Jr., who will serve as chairman of the companys board of directors.

The company plans to launch the platform in August 2011. The market rollout will initiate in Argentina and Chile and later on expand to other Latin American markets, including Mexico, Colombia and Brazil.

Adyen Opens for Business in Latin America

Sao Paulo, Brazil (PRWEB) October 18, 2011

Adyen, the fastest-growing provider of next generation Internet and mobile payment solutions, today announced the opening of a new Latin America office in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Persistent growth in many Latin American markets, coupled with a rising demand for international payment processing makes it an attractive prospect for Adyen, who is now actively seeking additional local and international partners in the region.

Adyens Latin American office will be led by Jean Christian Mies, who joins from Formel D do Brasil, where he was responsible for heading up commercial operations. Adyens expansion into Latin America is a direct result of the companys large customer and partner network, which will support the move. One such customer is Getty Images Latin America, a regional provider of digital content dedicated to creating and distributing a wide variety of material; from royalty-free stock photographs and editorial images to film clips, music and multimedia. In Latin America, Getty Images mission is to provide the widest range of high quality products and services to make its clients jobs easier and more effective. Essential to this streamlined service is an efficient ecommerce platform.

Our website needs to work well and it needs to be simple as our customers usually have very strict deadlines and need images quickly, said Juan Casadoumecq, CFO, Getty Images Latin America. We have worked with Adyen since the beginning of our e-commerce implementation and our clients in the Caribbean, North America, Mexico and Argentina are able to pay and download pictures safely and easily, any time of the day or night, thanks to Adyen.

The pace of e-commerce growth in Latin America has resulted in a number of issues associated with online transactions, when certain payment methods were not supported and non-Latin American banks still handled the bulk of payment processing. Adyen has worked to develop a local offering, with direct connections into multiple acquiring banks in the region, including the likes of Cielo and Redecard, to ensure that these issues have been addressed. Connections have also been established with partners in Peru, Argentina and Chile.

The opening of an office in Latin America is a momentous move for Adyen, explained Roelant Prins, CCO of Adyen. The speed with which people have been taking to the Internet in this part of the world and the pace of economic growth have been particularly striking. We have taken our time to develop a winning proposition and are hiring local professionals with a deep understanding of Latin American markets. We are looking forward to working with new customers and building new relationships in the region.

Adyens payment platform utilizes innovative skin technology to enable customers to seamlessly integrate the payment solution into their website or mobile application. Additionally, the technology drives significantly higher conversation rates by processing payments on a single screen with a single click and features comprehensive fraud control and reconciliation functionalities.
