The Indie Rock Band - Argentine - Debut CD "In Other Fictions" to be Released 8/23/04 Through Pehr Records Distribution

Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) August 7, 2004

Argentine means silver. Or it is a silver fish (also: Argentina Silas or Silver Smelt). You could also note Pericles, Prince of Tyre: “Celestial Dian, goddess argentine, I will obey thee!” But that still just means silver. None of the three members have been to Argentina. Most would like to.

Formed from the early starts of Ian Carpenter (vocals, guitars) & Nat Guy’s (guitar & bass) collaborations – this Brooklyn band has grown to 5 members – Timothy Quigley(Drummer/Percussionist), Marcus Smith (Bass, Keyboards, Guitar) and Chris Curtis (almighty viola) – incorporating all their distilled influences together and adding their own aesthetic verve – from Yo La Tengo to Mojave3 to Death Cab for Cutie and Low comparisons – all mixed up to make what is now the Argentine sound – Argentine – the band. Their debut CD “In Other Fictions” was recorded in 2003 and is now being distributed internationally thru Pehr Records Distribution come late summer 2004. With “In Other Fictions” getting its international distro release Argentine plans to support the CD through more shows in and out of New York City and also garner more great press (see PRESS section) and radioplay. Currently the band resides in Brooklyn, NY and is working on new songs – while also supporting “In Other Fictions” – for a 2nd album to be recorded sometime in the future.

The album was recorded initially in a secluded Chinatown basement. When electrical gremlins arrived the operation moved to a tucked-away Long Island City loft with barking dogs and noisy plumbing. The 8 song album was put together surprisingly quickly despite the setbacks. Charles Burst of The Occasion recorded and mixed the album and Argentine couldn’t be happier with the results. Gene Paul, the seasoned vet with an ear of silver, mastered.

Argentine is Ian Carpenter, Nat Guy, Marcus Smith, Chris Curtis and Timothy Quigley.

Ian Carpenter: Ian sings and plays guitar in Argentine. He has the clean, clear, languid lines from his Tele unless its time for distortion. One of founders of Argentine he contributes alot to the band’s sound and aesthetic.

Nat Guy: Nat plays guitar and bass in Argentine. Nat also makes things for Argentine like the album design and Argentine’s website.

Timothy Quigley: Mr. Quigley plays drums and percussion and also found the good sense to contribute glockenspiel, Wurlitzer and guitar to the album.

Marcus Smith – A newer and great contributing member. Bass, Guitar, Keyboards, Backing Vocals

Chris Curtis – The presence of Chris cannot be understated on his instrument. Really really beautiful. – Viola

Uchitel highlights that our platform seeks to secure financing for creative projects in Latin America in a variety of areas, including music, cinema, visual arts, design, fashion, innovation and technology. In the United States, sites like http://www.kickstarter.com and http://www.quirky.com, and international sites like http://www.verkami.com and http://www.pozible.com.au are already helping creative talent by raising millions of dollars in financing in exchange for gifts and other rewards. We are adapting those successful models on a global level to meet the needs of artists and creative talent in Latin America.

The company has secured the support of a group of investors of notable prestige with a solid track record in online and creative throughout the region. Among the investors are Eduardo Costantini Jr. (who served as executive director of the MALBA Museum for five years, cofounder of MUBI and president of Costa Films), Boris Hirmas Said (vice chairman of Yellow Pepper and a member of the Latin American Committee of the Tate Museum in London) and Wenceslao Casares (founder of Patagon and Bling Nation), just to name a few of the most prominent investors, added Mariano Suarez Battan, the renowned entrepreneur who sold his company Three Melons to Playdom/Disney in 2010 and one of the cofounders of IDEAME.com.

There is an extraordinary pool of creative and innovative talent in Latin America which faces obstacles to find funding. IDEAME.com will fill that void by providing the necessary resources for those artists to turn their dreams into reality, and we think its a great initiative, said Eduardo Costantini Jr., who will serve as chairman of the companys board of directors.

The company plans to launch the platform in August 2011. The market rollout will initiate in Argentina and Chile and later on expand to other Latin American markets, including Mexico, Colombia and Brazil.

(PRWEB) October 03, 2012 WHERE THE TRAIL ENDS: WHEELS TURN WHERE THEYVE NEVER TURNED BEFORE! Fresh on the heels of an epic Las Vegas world premiere, a new era of action sports film is unveiled with the release of ‘Where The Trail Ends’. Produced by Red Bull Media House, in association with Freeride Entertainment, the movie is a global cycling spectacle unlike anything ever captured on film before. Crafted over three years with the most advanced filmmaking and sound equipment ever used in the outdoor adventure sport genre, the film immerses viewers in an extraordinary chronicle of exploration, chaos and culture, set amongst some of the globes most harrowing and remote natural landscapes. Inspired by Red Bull Media Houses extraordinary ‘The Art Of FLIGHT’ snowboarding documentary, this is the soul and science of exploration as defined by two wheels. The experience of making the film is something viewers will see first-hand. Its the story of what it took to get there. And what it was like to experience the ultimate ride, says rider Darren Berrecloth, considered one of the worlds preeminent freeriders. We went into regions almost entirely unknown. And we often never knew whether wed succeed or fail, or worse. Veterans of Freerides heralded 10-year New World Disorder film series, athletes and production crews were left physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted after the films expeditions to dispatches amongst the Andean foothills of Salta, Argentina, Chinas Gobi Desert, Nepals near-secret Mustang region, the towering shorelines of British Columbias Fraser River and Virgin, Utah big mountain freeridings punishing proving grounds and birthplace. Where The Trail Ends storyline follows professional mountain bikers Berrecloth, Cameron Zink, Kurt Sorge, James Doerfling, Andreu Lacondeguy and another half dozen of the worlds top freeriders on both a timeless, epic adventure and an entertainment undertaking unparalleled to date. Now, FISH MUNGA http://www.fishmunga.com is proud to announce their partnership with RBMH and Freeride Entertainment in helping to deliver this groundbreaking and inspiring production to audiences in the form of what they call a ’3-in-1 Special’. The filmmakers have gone to great lengths to capture the action in eye-popping HD and true Dolby 5.1 surround sound, so of course the film is available on Blu-ray with surround. But for those who don’t have a Blu-ray player yet, the same package features a standard definition DVD and instructions on how to view a free HD digital download. To watch the trailer and purchase the 3-in-1 special collectors edition visit: http://www.fishmunga.com/store-2/where-the-trail-ends-3-in-1-special/ But that’s not all: Fish Munga is also pleased to announce the addition of Rush Surges kayak film ‘Frontier’ to their online store – available on DVD. This joins a narrow selection of only the finest action sports films that are offered. As a finalist in Banff 2012 and winner of the 2012 X-Dance Adventure Film of the Year, ‘Frontier’ highlights a crew of top kayakers traveling to new rivers in search un-run waterfalls in all corners of the globe, putting a strong emphasis on exploration, the progression of the sport and highlighting some of the hardest whitewater ever paddled. Among other epic scenes, it features Rafa Ortiz and Aniol Serrasoles’s 128.6FT waterfall descent of Big Banana Falls, in Veracruz Mexico. When asked about the latest additions to the product lineup available at fishmunga.com, filmmaker, Director of ‘Congo – The Grand Inga Project’, Steve Fisher had the following to say: “We’re not trying to become the next big DVD distributor, that’s not what we do, but we do want to help our friends and promote films that we like and respect. I’m a big believer in the idea that less is more, so this is where you’ll find only the very best films in their genre. We even have half a dozen of our own films that aren’t available here, simply because they aren’t up to par. We need people to trust our recommendations in the future and the only way we can do that is if we’re very selective in what we offer.” Not only is Rush Strurges a main character in Fish Munga’s ‘Congo’ and ‘Halo Effect’, his collaboration with comes from deep within his own production company – ‘River Roots’. Hes won his own awards and helped us win ours, and he’s one of the worlds best all-round kayakers. Weve been on many expeditions together, and been impressed by his calculated and balanced approach.
