La Jolla, CA (PRWEB) April 19, 2006

From La Jolla Shores to Catalina Island, from Balboa Park to Bird Rock, San Diego landmarks are coming to life in the paintings of celebrated local artist Jesi Schiffer. From April 17 to May 3, the Village Gallery in La Jolla presents more than 40 works by the artist, representing a diverse and colorful approach to Southern Californias most treasured landmarks. In addition, Jesi Schiffer will host an artist reception on Thursday, April 20th from 5:30-9:00pm, featuring art, wine, fabulous appetizers, music, and much more.

Schiffers show at the Village Gallery debuts her new plein aire series of paintings, a difficult wet-on-wet style where the artist masters each painting on location. Schiffer will also be showing several stunning new studio paintings, including the debut of Enchanted Isle, a large painting of Catalina Island.

In addition, Schiffer is also doing commission paintings for wine drinkers, depicting their favorite bottle of wine. Art aficionados simply bring her their favorite bottle, specify colors and size, and the artist does the rest. Guests can also see Schiffer in action (and watch the paintings come to life) as she paints live at the gallery each day of her show.

The Village Art Gallery in La Jolla is located at 7932 Ivanhoe Avenue, in La Jolla. For more information, please contact Christine Van Tuyl at 858.405.7264.

About Jesi Schiffer

Jesi began painting eight years ago under the instruction of Concetta Antico-Pizzinat. Many of Jesi’s paintings depict her life travels as well as her interests such as surfing, yoga and diving. Her fascination with different cultures and languages and the beauty of exotic regions have taken her to Costa Rica, where she became a scuba dive instructor in Bonaire. She also lived and taught English in Brazil, climbed Macchu Picchu in Peru, and traveled to Boliva, Chile, Argentina, Portugal, Holland, London, France, Spain, Mexico City, Cancun, Cozumel, and Baja California. Jesi is a member of the La Jolla Art Association, the San Diego Art Association, and donates her time and art pieces to the San Diego Burn Institute, Coast Keepers and Surfrider Foundations.

Currently, Jesi teaches private children’s oil painting and an after-school fine art program at Grant Elementary in San Diego, CA. When Jesi is not traveling, teaching or painting, she is riding a mechanical bull in Mexico. For more information, or to schedule a private viewing, visit http://www.artbyjesi.com.

Alexandra Iorgulescu Illustration feat. Artist of the Month at PosterLounge

Playa del Rey, CA (PRWEB) June 7, 2006

Alexandra Iorgulescu proudly announces that she has been selected as the ARTIST OF THE MONTH! at PosterLounge, a German Company based in Leipzig, which specializes in the printing, selling & promotion of high quality prints and canvas, showcasing the works of top notch, hand- picked vector illustrators from all over the World.

These prints are targeted at modern living spaces, not only private ones, but bars, clubs, lounge areas, restaurants and such as well, since most depict scenes related to the Music, Entertainment and Fashion Industries.

Alexandra Iorgulescu was born on January 1977, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As with most designers and illustrators, she has been interested in art for as long as she can remember. One of her favorite things growing up was attending this great art workshop for kids, probably where Alexandra learnt the basics about colors, shapes, textures. At age 18, she got herself into College to study Graphic Design, and its no wonder that the subject in which she excelled was not Graphic Design itself, but Illustration.

Alexandra Iorgulescu comes from a traditional pencil and charcoal background, although nowadays hardly ever uses them, since she’s a lot more attracted and committed to vector illustration.

Alexandra has always admired Andy Warhol for the simplicity yet eye-catching power of his work. Strongly believes that 40 years later, we can still move along these same ideas: clean lines, few colors, almost a minimalist approach to art, which is enough to convey the message we want to transmit.

Needless to say, Alexandra is drawn to modern minimalist architecture and interior design as well. Inspiration is all around her: movies, photography, fashion, nature, musicAs she very well puts it: “I just like to capture the essence of what Im looking at and transmit it in my work”. “Four years ago, on February 2002, I left Argentina, and moved to Los Angeles, California. Like many foreigners in a new place, I have to say that you leave your country, but its habits, culture, vibe…they are and will be always with you. I like to think that all that will be in some way reflected in my art, and possibly make it richer and more interesting for the viewer!”

Modern Pop/Rock Latin-Crossover Artist "Carmireli" Reaches Beyond Unsigned Virtual Expectations

Rochester, New York (PRWEB) March 12, 2007

Without the aid of an independent radio promotion staff, unsigned, 18 year old Pop/Rock artist Carmireli is being played, and in some instances added to rotations, on a handful of commercial radio stations around the world. In the past three weeks, radio activity in the U.S. and abroad (California, Ohio, Belgium and Argentina) has prompted industry attention. “This comes as a welcome surprise,” states Tony Gross, co-manager and representative for Castle Nine Entertainment, Carmireli’s management company. “Oddly enough, the whole radio campaign is organically driven by Carmireli’s 32,000 Myspace.com friends and fans. To our knowledge, she has in excess of 25 active fan clubs — a real testament to her appeal all over the world.”

Tom Sebourn P.D./M.D. KFMI 96.3 FM says, ” Carmireli is set to become one of the biggest stars of 2007. Her well seasoned voice, great songs and beautiful looks are hard to ignore. We are playing ‘Who We Are’ on Power 96.3 KFMI FM in Eureka California. This song has all the qualities of a number one hit! The songs ‘You Make Me Feel Brand New’ and ‘I Ain’t Buyin’, are also very radio friendly. We hope to see a nation wide tour and would like to invite Carmireli to join us in the studio for a morning interview with D.J. Pete Meyer if she ever comes to Eureka.”

Of notable interest is Carmireli’s song “One Mistake”, which she penned with Johnny Cummings and Richard Fink IV. It was initially released in October for download and competitive voting on the Next Big Hit New Music Mix — one of the most dominant music podcasts available at iTunes. Carmireli broke voting records when voters chose “One Mistake” as the number one pick to move on to the following week’s podcast for four weeks running, the maximum allowed.

Her new six song Pop/Rock self-titled debut CD is available online at http://www.carmireli.com and includes a bilingual duet of The Stylistics’ “You Make Me Feel Brand New” with the infamous Russell Thompkins, Jr. of the Stylistics.

For additional information on Carmireli, or to request immediate MP3s for airplay and industry review, contact Tony Gross or visit http://www.carmireli.com.

The mural and table for the shrine of “Our Lady of Lujan”, commissioned by Rev. Carlos Mullins and the Argentinean-American Association of Our Lady of Lujan, becomes permanent installation at the Cathedral. The mural of “Our Lady of Lujan” by Guillermo Esparza was executed in oil and gold on linen. It depicts the miracle of Our Lady of Lujan, which took place in 1630 in Argentina. Guillermo Esparza, a master iconographer, sculptor, and painter, is renowned for his sacred art installations in the United States, as well as abroad. The carpentry for the table, following the design by Guillermo Esparza, was executed by Jeff Taisey, known for his work for numerous major motion pictures. The shrine was blessed by the Cathedral’s pastor, Msgr. Donald Sakano.

Another important sacred art installation by Guillermo Esparza unveils on October 15, 2009 at the Holy Name Chapel, St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. As an addition to the on-going sacred art exhibit, “Arcanum Angelorum” (Mystery of the Angels), Guillermo Esparza’s latest mural icon is “The Deisis”. It depicts Pantokrator (Christ), Theotokos (Virgin Mary), and Prodromos (John The Forerunner). The Deisis is the central part of some Orthodox churches. This mural was executed by Guillermo Esparza in oil and gold on linen, and is 10 feet high and 7 feet wide.

Due to an extraordinary popularity of the event, an exhibit of sacred art – “Arcanum Angelorum” (“Mystery of the Angels”), Art in the Sacred Canon, – with works by Guillermo Esparza, award-winning, internationally recognized American iconographer, painter, and sculptor, is extended through the end of 2010 at St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in New York. The exhibit commemorates the Bicentennial Celebration of the Cathedral located in the historic SoHo neighborhood in New York City and the restoration of the tabernacle of the church by the artist-in-residence, Guillermo Esparza. The exhibition features recent paintings of angels in oil, icons in egg tempera and gold, drawings, as well as sculptures and mural designs. The exhibit takes place in the undercroft of the Old Cathedral in the Holy Name Chapel, opposite 263 Mulberry Street. Guillermo Esparza launches his sacred art lecture series on iconography and on “Our Lady of Perpetual Help” icon at the Cathedral. Guillermo Esparza is honored for his work by New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, and receives Proclamation from the Mayor, honoring his current sacred art exhibit, “Arcanum Angelorum”.

Guillermo Esparza is the subject of the documentary by Los Angeles filmmaker Veronica Aberham for Studio-Online, an affiliate of London-based Studio International. Original soundtrack is composed and performed by Esparza’s wife, composer and pianist Maria Andriasova Esparza. The film is released on June 1st, and premiers on June 7th, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral for its 200-year anniversary, following the historic mass delivered by Archbishop of New York Timothy Michael Dolan. Russian-language version of the film is translated by Columbia University-trained scholar, Olga Zvenyatsky. Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory and The Juilliard School graduate, composer Maria Andriasova Esparza, is nominated for the distinguished international “Mozart” award from the International Biographical Center, Cambridge, UK, for her original music to this documentary. The soundtrack is listed on Top-40 / Sony Masterworks.

The Church of St. Paul the Apostle, Lincoln Center in NYC, to Present "Arcanum Angelorum" ("Mystery Of The Angels") Exhibit by American Artist Guillermo Esparza with Live Performance by Composer Maria Andriasova Esparza

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 07, 2012

An exhibit of sacred art – “Arcanum Angelorum” (Mystery of the Angels) – with works by Guillermo Esparza, award-winning, internationally recognized American iconographer, painter, and sculptor, will be displayed in The Church of St. Paul The Apostle, Lincoln Center in New York City, Rev. Gilbert Martinez, CSP, Pastor. The opening reception is on Thursday, May 10th from 7 to 9 pm, with live performance by composer Maria Andriasova Esparza at the piano, and the show runs through June 7, 2012. The exhibit is presented by Openings NY, a project of the Paulist Fathers established by Rev. Frank Sabatte, CSP, and will feature Esparzas most recent monumental mural painting of the Many-Eyed (Red) Seraph, a part of the triptych of mural of The Pantokrator and accompanying Green and Red Seraphim, as well as podlennik of the mural of The Pantokrator with tetramorphs of the Evangelists and Archangels Gabriel and Michael. It runs in conjunction with Guillermo Esparzas on-going exhibit at The Basilica of St. Patricks Old Cathedral, where he is the artist-in-residence, and it runs through 2016 in celebrations of the Cathedrals 200-year anniversary. Composer Maria Andriasova Esparza will be making live appearance performing her award-winning score to a documentary film Guillermo Esparza, An American Iconographer, an original production by Los Angeles film maker Veronica Aberham for London-based Studio International.

According to early Christian history, the tradition of iconography was established approximately 1,000 years before the Renaissance. It is based on golden-mean proportions and related geometry, Byzantine modules, exact anatomy, inverse perspective, and multi-perspective philosophy. In my works, I strive to preserve the traditions of the medieval painters. What inspires me is light penetrating the transparent colors of egg tempera, reflecting back from the gesso ground. In sculpture, it is the super emanating light coming from white marble, reflecting the heart of the shellfish: fiat lux. Guillermo Esparza.
