Dream Phone Call From Chayanne Will Go To Lucky Bidder

(PRWEB) March 21, 2001

DATE: March 16, 2001

FROM: Chayanne Fans For Nancy Committee

TITLE: “Dream Phone Call From Chayanne Will Go To Lucky Bidder”

When the auction is over and the bids are all in, some very lucky fan will be getting a phone call most fans only dream about. It will come from one of the brightest stars in the entertainment universe…Latin heart throb Chayanne.

Chayanne will donate the “fan call” to a benefit Internet auction that he really cares about, the Chayanne Fans For Nancy charity auction on eBay. The call will go to the highest bidder during the auction to benefit Nancy Ramos Esquivel which now through Sunday, March 21st (extended to this date due to overwhelming response). She is a 10 month old baby girl who desperately needs a liver transplant at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. Included in the auction will also be more than 200 Chayanne collectible items sent in by his fans everywhere and even the star’s own management company.

The exciting auction is being sponsored and coordinated by a committee, Chayanne Fans For Nancy, made up from three major fan clubs who support the career of the Puerto Rican entertainer on the Internet, Cafe Chayanne, Chayfans.org and La Isla Chayanne.

Chayanne discovered the Mexican girl when his own child, three year old Lorenzo, was hospitalized briefly with the flu. This caring, sympathetic superstar was so moved by her condition and the fact that her mother is very poor and cannot afford the whopping big $ 200,000 surgery bill, that he publicly asked his millions of fans around the world to help. As a result, the auction was born to kick off a fund raising campaign.

In addition to his recent appearances on two episodes of Fox’s TV hit Ally McBeal, and his 1998 US film debut in Dance With Me starring opposite Vanessa L. Williams, Chayanne’s colorful career spans some 21 years. He has sold over 5 million albums worldwide, and earned at least 20 platinum records and more than 50 gold. This past year, he won the Ritmo Latino Artist Of The Year Award and also for Best Video for his song Atado A Tu Amor. He was just recently nominated for the 2001 Billboard Latin Music Awards Hot Latin Tracks, for The Best Pop Album – “Simplemente” (his latest), and for Pop Track Of The Year. In addition, he has been nominated for Best Latin Artist in the prestigious Premios Gardel Awards in Argentina to be announced on April 18th.

Among the many items to be auctioned off will be autographed tour books, photographs, rare magazines, articles and clippings, concert T-shirts, albums, videos (including Linda Sara, the first film he made), and possibly a nice contribution from the Miami Marlin’s baseball team.

The auction can be found at

PERSIAN CENTER BRIDGES “FROM IRAN TO ARGENTINA” WITH THE IRANIAN

GUITAR DUO

Event at San Francisco’s Herbst Theatre on Sept. 14,2003 dedicated to the victims of Sept. 11, 2001

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — September 3, 2003 —- Persian Center (http://www.persiancenter.org)proudly presents a night of music and dance, featuring the Iranian Guitar Duo, Babak and Pedram Falsafi (http://iranianguitarduo.com/),Sunday,September 14, 2003, at San Francisco’s Herbst theater http://www.performances.org/theaters/herbst.asp).

The brothers plan to shatter preconceived notions of the sounds of the classical guitar, as they take the audience on a journey “From Iran to Argentina”, with intricately woven music from these regions. For the traditional Persian music lovers, there will also be a complex composition for two guitars and Iranian drums (tombak & daff) played by Kamran Modirian, accompanied by Niosha Dance Academy (http://www.niosha.com).

The visual delights will continue as tango dancers Sandor and Parissa (http://www.sandorparissa.com/) perform to the Iranian Guitar Duo’s romantic sounds from South America.

Tickets are available through City Box Office at 415-392-4400 or

http://www.cityboxoffice.com.

Babak and Pedram Falsafi formed the Iranian Guitar Duo after many years exploring Iranian and Middle Eastern music on the classical guitar. Babak studied the guitar in Tehran with renowned guitar teacher Bagher Moazen and later at the Prague Conservatory of Music with Milan Zelenka, while Pedram immigrated to the United States and became a lifetime guitar and composition student of Dusan Bogdanovic. The brothers, who reunited in San Francisco, shared that “traveling, learning foreign languages, and meeting many artists worldwide has helped us appreciate different cultures, traditions and art forms, and has had an impact on our music.” Although influenced by numerous classical music recordings including Bach’s Cantatas and Mozart’s Concertos, they remain eager to learn more about other styles of music such as popular and folk.

From traditional to modern music and dance, the evening ventures to create dialogue and bring understanding and appreciation among various cultures, without the spoken word. This event is dedicated to the victims of the September 11th, 2001 and all other innocent victims of violence in history. Shahin Tabrizi, Persian Center Board Member, commented that “lives have been shortened and dreams have been shattered because of the belief that taking an innocent life in pursuit of one’s own ideology is justified. Let us hope that there will be a day when we realize that there is no cause greater, no commitment more important, and no aspiration more precious than honoring a life.”

The Persian Center is a non-profit organization with a mission to create an environment in which to conduct social, cultural, educational, and recreational activities designed to strengthen the sense of identity and integrity of all Iranians and Iranian descendants, and to engage individuals interested in or related to Persian community and culture.

Coalition Against Terrorist Media Removes Hezbollahs Al-Manar Television from American Markets

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) January 1, 2006

The Coalition Against Terrorist Media (CATM) today praised satellite company Hispamar for removing the terrorist group Hezbollahs al-Manar television station from broadcast into North and South America. This marks the second time that CATM has taken al-Manar off the airwaves in the United States and throughout the Americas.

Al-Manar runs graphic videos encouraging viewers, even children, to become suicide bombers and calls for acts of terrorism against civilians, said Mark Dubowitz, COO of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, which organized CATM. Al-Manar is an operational weapon in the hands of one of the worlds most dangerous terrorist organizations.

We applaud Hispamar for quickly ending al-Manar broadcasts over its Amazonas satellite after we alerted them to its incitement to violence and support for terrorism, Dubowitz continued. By removing al-Manar, Hispamar is ending a very real threat. Hezbollah is known to have terror cells in more than 14 major American cities. It conducts illegal operations, including drug smuggling, throughout the Americas. And it demonstrated its ability and willingness to strike on this side of the Atlantic when its terrorists killed more than 100 innocent civilians in two bombings in Argentina.

With Hispamars decision, CATM and its allies have now been instrumental in removing al-Manar from eight satellites around the world, including two other satellites broadcasting into the United States and Latin America.

In December 2004, at CATMs urging, the U.S. State Department designated al-Manar as a terrorist organization. The same day, the Intelsat satellite company dropped al-Manar from broadcast in the United States and Canada.

On June 23, 2005, following intensive consultations with CATM and its allies, the government of Spain issued a press release denouncing al-Manars terrorist messages and removed al-Manar from broadcast over Hispasat, which reached all of Latin America.

Hispamar is a Brazilian company and branch of Hispasat. Its Amazonas satellite had broadcast al-Manar until being alerted by CATM about the stations support for terrorism.

Al-Manar is still broadcast to the Middle East, Europe and North Africa by Nilesat, whose major shareholder is the government of Egypt, and Arabsat, which is owned in part by the government of Saudi Arabia. Al-Manar’s broadcasts include commercials glorifying suicide bombers and encouraging others to join their ranks; viciously anti-American and anti-Semitic material, including the infamous and false blood libel depicting Jews killing a child to make Passover Matzah; and music videos calling for suicide bombers to attack coalition soldiers in Iraq.

CATM is a project of the non-partisan Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (http://www.defenddemocracy.org), a policy institute that focuses on defeating terrorism and promoting democracy.

For more information on al-Manar and CATMs efforts to remove it from worldwide broadcast, please visit http://www.stopterroristmedia.org.

Online Video Craze Gets Even Better with the Launch of Free Internet TV Access from TvBistro.com

Rockville, MD (PRWEB) October 24, 2006

TvBistro (http://www.TvBistro.com) is taking the online video craze to the next level, by offering free worldwide Internet TV channels from 15 countries and in six languages. The service allows viewers completely free access to live online video from a variety of Internet TV channels, including the BBC, C-Span, and the Sci-Fi Channel. Hundreds of TV channels are currently available.

Online video is a hot topic these days, from Google’s purchase of YouTube, to MTV bringing online video content to China, to Universal Music filing lawsuits against online video sharing sites Grouper and Bolt. Amidst all of the user-generated content and online video controversy, TvBistro.com aims to make the trend fun and simple for viewers by providing free access to their selection of Internet TV channels.

“The goal of the website is to allow people to view channels over the Internet from around the world at absolutely no cost,” according to TvBistro’s founder, Yevgeniy Leshchinskiy. “Our website allows the user to have a much greater choice of the channels they can view online. Cable and satellite dish service can be expensive, and usually do not provide anywhere close to the selection of foreign language stations we are offering on TVBistro.com. We are focused on providing a large selection of stations, while also showing channels not available through normal television outlets.”

In response to the popularity of music and entertainment-oriented online videos on sites like online video pioneer YouTube, TvBistro is offering dozens of music channels, providing more music videos than even the most popular cable music networks. Users are able to access a wide variety of music videos on channels such as Evolving Artist, Ministry of Sound, E-music, and Music Plus TV, catering to diverse musical tastes.

The large selection of international online videos not only provides English-speaking viewers with a chance to watch live Internet TV from other countries, but also allows people who have relocated across the globe to catch up on some of their favorite TV shows from their home countries. Each international section of the site is available not only in its native language, but also in English. Currently, the site features worldwide Internet TV channels from countries including France, Germany, Russia, Spain, China, Mexico, Chile, and Argentina. The site plans to increase its international appeal with the launch of a Latin American portal providing online video from Latin American countries in both Spanish and English.

TvBistro uses the full advantages of online video to provide conveniences that regular television just can’t. The site makes it possible for viewers to watch free Internet TV channels from anywhere they can access a computer. Standard media viewers are used, meaning the site doesn’t require users to download special software to view the online videos. It’s as simple as clicking on the channel they want to watch, and the live video starts playing. The ease of use makes TvBistro ideal for situations when a regular TV isn’t available, such as during a lunch break in the office or while traveling out of your own country when you’d like to follow the news, sports or other shows.

Rott Takes Bite from Idaho to Europe

Coeur d’Alene, ID (PRWEB) October 27, 2006

Idaho based Goth metal act ROTT is now taking a bite out of fans in Europe too. ROTT recently became noticed in major webzines Temple of Metal in Greece, Born to Die’zine in Poland and has their online interview up from Behind the Veil in Greece. With this added bite to their sound and growing packs of rottband fans they even received attention in Argentina from webzine musicextreme.com.

ROTT hails from Spirit Lake, Idaho where they formed in May 2001. The raw melodic sound of the band with its chunky driving guitar riffs soon became one of the major forces in the local music scene. Soon after playing locally and creating a hungry fan base the band went into the studio for the first time.

ROTT went into the studio in June 2002 and recorded their debut self-titled CD which has been played on mainstream rock station Rock 94 1/2 in Spokane, Washington. The European fans then took notice after ROTT received airplay in Greece.

Soon, the band started receiving recognition from media and fans alike. They were contacted by Romanian webzine Metal Silvae and had a large promotion in Romania and Russia with incredible success. Emails from fans came pouring in and with the addition of a radio promotion in Greece which gave away free shirts from the band even more positive response from the fans followed. “I try and answer all the emails personally,” said lead singer Molly, “The response from the fans is awesome.”

"Vagabundeo" CD Due June 26 from Singer/Songwriter Alexa Weber Morales

Richmond, CA (PRWEB) June 4, 2007

Following the warm reception accorded her 2004 debut CD “Jazzmerica” by press and radio, and her star turn as vocalist and lyricist on trombonist Wayne Wallace’s 2007 release “The Reckless Search for Beauty,” the prodigiously gifted Alexa Weber Morales steps out with an exceptional new recording, “Vagabundeo (Wanderings),” on Wallace’s Patois label.

“Alexa embodies the mission statement of Patois Records,” says Wayne Wallace, who co-produced the CD with Weber Morales. “Not every record label wants you to mix things together, and at the same time it’s not every artist who can do that. Alexa is one to try things that others won’t. In this day and age of commercialism, I think it’s important to put out something with art in it. There’s always some kind of twist in what Alexa does; it’s not the straight up and down stuff.”

As Chuy Varela put it in Latin Beat magazine, “She is a jazz singer at heart but with a soul that sees no borders within its musical perspective.”

Singing in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese, and thoroughly at ease creating her fresh brew of salsa, jazz, bossa nova, and funk, Alexa is a commanding vocalist with a vivid, passionate sound. “There are three things I can’t live without: strength, rhythm, and voice,” she says. On “Vagabundeo,” she brings to life a wide spectrum of compositions – by Bizet, Jobim, Edu Lobo, and Ruben Blades, as well as her own striking originals – with her confident rhythmic sense and emotive phrasing.

The opening aria “Habanera” (from “Carmen”), sung in French over a pilon-salsa arrangement; the haunting a cappella rendition of “Calling You” (from the film “Bagdad Cafe”), with bass singer Bryan Dyer and tenor/baritone Kenny Washington; “Angelitos Negros” (from the 1948 Mexican film of the same name), on which Alexa is backed by a gospel choir; her affecting ballad “You Cry, I Dry Your Tears,” which closes the album – these are but a few of the highlights on a CD that will go far to establish Alexa Weber Morales’s place in the front ranks of today’s vocal artists.

Alexa Weber Morales was born to a musical family in Berkeley, California in 1974. From early on, there was an emphasis on language (her parents founded Berkeley’s Ecole Bilingue, where she and her brothers learned French) and music. Alexa began classical piano lessons at age five, and took voice lessons as a teenager. “I did get some classical training, and can sing an aria and sight-read, but my voice is more contemporary,” she says. “As with everything in my life, there’s a broad range: I’m drawn to the street and the intellectual, the refined and the folk.”

Weber Morales studied languages at Bryn Mawr College for a year, but the call of music was stronger and she left to pursue it, performing in cabaret and theater and – after moving back to the Bay Area – on boats and in malls, at Renaissance Faires and cafes, with chamber choirs and at Grace Cathedral. She continued her independent music studies and worked with myriad local musicians at many venues.

Like most artists, she found making money and making music a challenge to reconcile. On top of that, she married young, to a recent Mexican immigrant who “told me that music is a nice hobby, but it will never be something big. I told him we’d get married on two conditions: I’d have a lot of animals and eventually, I was going to make it as a singer.” Alexa worked as an editor at a Spanish-language magazine, which later launched a Brazilian edition. She traveled to Brazil, Peru, Uruguay, Argentina, and Cuba (where she attended the Escuela Nacional de Arte).

In 1999, she took a class at Jazz Camp West with Wayne Wallace, who “respected me as a musician and songwriter.” She began to understand that not only her singing voice but her songs were viable.

A mother of two young boys, Weber Morales started work on “Vagabundeo” while pregnant with her second child and maintained demanding recording and gigging schedules just weeks after giving birth. She once struggled with balancing art and commerce; now her priorities are motherhood and music. “I was laid off from my magazine job when I was pregnant in December 2005. Everyone wonders when to quit their day job. In my case it quit me. Now I’m applying everything I learned from ten years in that creative business to my full-time focus as a musician.” Like any working mother, she faces a daily juggling act; she documents hers in her blog, which offers “Tips for Multitasking Musician Moms.”

Having recently completed a successful three-night engagement at Pearl’s in San Francisco, featuring many of the musicians from Vagabundeo and material from both of her CDs, Alexa is poised to continue the momentum. Among her near-future engagements are Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society in Half Moon Bay (6/17); La Pena Cultural Center, Berkeley (8/17); the San Jose Jazz Festival (8/19); Jazz on the Row, Santana Row, San Jose (8/21); and Yoshi’s, Oakland, with Wayne Wallace (10/9). And beyond the Bay Area, “Vagabundeo” will help spread the word about this exciting singer and performer.

"The Way I Play (Live in Chicago)" New Trio CD from Guitarist Bobby Broom, Due April 22

Richmond, CA (PRWEB) March 25, 2008

Guitarist Bobby Broom announces the release on April 22, 2008 of a superb live CD with his working trio.

As a major jazz guitarist, Bobby Broom has for many years been hiding in plain sight. Following his Carnegie Hall debut at age 16 with Sonny Rollins, and his first album as a leader at 20, Broom recorded and toured steadily as a valued sideman with artists such as Stanley Turrentine, Kenny Burrell, Dr. John, Charles Earland, and Rollins (whom he rejoined in 2005).

Since the mid-1990s, however, Broom has been focusing much more on his own music, recording a series of critically acclaimed CDs for Criss Cross, Delmark, Premonition, and Origin. His new Origin disc, “The Way I Play (Live in Chicago),” which will be released April 22, captures Broom and his working trio live at their longtime weekly gig, which the Chicago Tribune calls “one of the best ongoing engagements” in the Chicago area.

“It’s flat-out, crazy blowing,” says the guitarist of the results. “And it really is a record of how I approach my instrument, of what’s important to me musically, of where I stand in the jazz order of things.”

The Harlem native, now 47, has been exploring the trio format to rewarding effect not only in his last two CDs, but every Wednesday night for the last ten years at Pete Miller’s Steakhouse in Evanston–the place Broom describes as his “laboratory.” On “The Way I Play,” he delves into a program of jazz standards and American songbook classics–by Charlie Parker, Richard Rodgers, Sonny Rollins, the Gershwins, McCoy Tyner–with trio-mates Dennis Carroll, on bass, and drummer Kobie Watkins.

“We play these kinds of things every week,” Broom says of the tunes, “and I have for my whole life as a jazz guitar player. Now I have both an individual and a group identity to use as a means to approach this music–and all of the music that we play.”

Bobby Broom, Chicago-based since 1984, has another long-standing trio affiliation in the Deep Blue Organ Trio, which one reviewer has deemed “Hammond B3-guitar-drums jazz of the highest order.” Together with organist Chris Foreman and drummer Greg Rockingham, Broom and Deep Blue have to date recorded three albums (and one DVD). Earlier this year, their 2007 Origin disc, “Folk Music,” received a Chicago Music Award as Best Jazz CD. It also burned up the Jazzweek airplay charts, holding at the #2 position for four consecutive weeks (and remaining in the Top 5 for two straight months).

Broom’s own “Song and Dance” CD (Origin) ranked among Jazzweek’s Top 50 airplay records for 2007.

Still a member of Sonny Rollins’s band, Broom will be traveling with Rollins this year to Japan, Korea, Singapore, Australia, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Argentina, and Brazil, as well as making U.S. dates in California, New Jersey, New York, Washington DC, Rhode Island, and close to home in Chicago. He’s also featured in Rollins’s forthcoming Doxy DVD “Live in Vienne,” recorded in concert at a French festival in 2006.

But Bobby’s solo career has never looked or sounded better. His appearance on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz will air in conjunction with the release of “The Way I Play” (feed date April 22). He’s the May cover story for Just Jazz Guitar magazine. And he’ll be part of a Jazz at Lincoln Center event celebrating the legacy of Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian. The Rose Theater concerts on May 2 and 3 will feature Broom alongside Jim Hall, Russell Malone, and Bireli Lagrene, with Lewis Nash driving the rhythm section.

“Guitar gets ignored all too often in the jazz pantheon,” says Broom. “Perhaps it was the last instrument to lead the jazz band historically, but it has not been without its share of innovative players who have contributed to the art improvisationally, compositionally, and in terms of being influential figures at the forefront of the music’s progression. Hopefully, when I play I can speak from the point of view of a beneficiary of the great jazz and jazz guitar work that has come before me.”

Pasadena, Calif. (PRWEB) June 25, 2009

The maps are out, the suitcases are packed, the minivan is washed, the kids are already complaining. Sounds like the makings of a memorable summer road trip. Many families are forgoing international travel and hitting the road this year, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have an international cultural experience.

A tourism outlook from Visa, as reported in the Wall Street Journal’s The Wallet blog, says that Americans are interested in traveling abroad, but 83 percent are changing their travel plans because of the economy — either deciding to take trips at off-peak times or to stay closer to home. In the same blog post, BudgetTravel.com senior editor Sean O’Neill declares this to be “the summer of the great American road trip.”

Global Wonders, producer of award-winning cross-cultural children’s entertainment, offers parents some tips on using all that car time to bring the world to their kids:

Top Ten Summer Travel Destinations From Let"s Go Travel Guides

Cambridge, MA (Vocus) July 21, 2010

It’s officialafter several years of penny-pinching, staycations, and a weak dollar, travelers are ready to start exploring the world again. To help travelers get back in the game, Let’s Go Travel Guides has compiled a list of its top summer travel destinations for student travelers looking to splurge a little or save. The following destinations include:

10. National Parks

National parks, in the U.S. and abroad, get big thumbs up as a staycation alternative. Cheap, often relatively close, and undeniably beautiful, national parks around the countryand the worldoffer unique opportunities for the budget traveler. Campsites run for less per night than hotel rooms, smores cost a fraction of restaurant fare, and aside from modest park entry fees, mountains and trees tend to be pretty easy on the wallet.

9. Dublin

With a recent slowdown in economic growth and the weakening of the euro, Dublin is an increasingly budget-friendly travel hotspot. Despite its increasingly cosmopolitan reputation, modern Dublin still has the quirky flavor of a large town busily engaged in neighborhood pursuits. The citys distinctive neighborhoods, significant student population, blossoming art and theater scenes, and an ever-thriving pub culture help Dublin retain its youthful Guinness-fueled jaunt.

8. Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, or “fresh air”, is quickly becoming one of the most popular cities for study abroad in Latin America. Student travelers are bound to meet young people from every corner of the world, not to mention locals who grill until midnight and regard a night out that ends at 4am as a weak attempt. From the Recoleta (think the Upper East Side with a pinch of Paris) to Boca (canary-yellow townhouses that empty out for rowdy soccer matches every night), Buenos Aires isnt just a city of tango and opera anymore. Argentinas capital is like a European city at Latin American prices, with easy access to world-class skiing, wine, and beaches.

7. Paris

Intemperance? Gluttony? Sex addiction? Ballet? There isn’t a vice that hasn’t been indulged in by previous generations in Paris. Steeped in history and allusions right down to its sewers, Paris weaves a spell in stone and sunlight. With the euro weaker than its been in years, travel in the City of Light, though still expensive, is cheaper than it was a year ago. The saying: One mans debt crisis is another mans favorable exchange rate. is spot-on when talking about travel to Paris.

6. Thailand

With a unique mix of tiny islands and bustling cities like Bangkok, Thailand offers a truly uniqueand affordablegetaway. With a little guidance, its easy to find safe, cheap, and comfy beds after a long day of elephant riding or bowing before glittering golden Buddha statues. The flight to the “Land of Smiles” may be expensive, but once there, a thriving backpacking scene and inexpensive food and lodging make Thailand a budget-travel paradise for students.

5. Costa Rica and Nicaragua

From middle-aged cannabis enthusiasts to spring-breaking co-eds, budget travelers of every age seem to appreciate the wonders of Costa Rica. Stable politics and a top-notch tourist infrastructure have made it Central Americas tourist hotspot since the 1970s. Cheaper, less touristed, and with its political troubles behind it, Nicaragua is poised to give its neighbor to the south a run for its colonesor c

World Music Band Los Pinguos, Hailing From Argentina, Hits The Stage At The Lensic, Santa Fes Performing Arts Center May 18th

Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) May 06, 2012

As part of its World Music series, The Lensic, a SantaFe.com Featured Business, presents the Argentine band Los Pinguos on May 18. A longtime favorite amongst world music fans, Los Pinguos are extensively touring the U.S. and Canada to promote their eighth album, 1111, which officially hit the streets April 18th. The new collection of songs captures the bands dynamic genre-bending musical range, showcasing a stunning ability to integrate traditional Latin rhythms into thoroughly modern compositions.

Longtime listeners will recognize the bands trademark infectious sound. The addition of a string quartet on four songs, lends a distinctive cinematic feel to those tracks, and the album as a whole. Many songs on 1111 have been road-tested over the last two to three years. In concert, the band reproduces their sound with precision, yet they retain that elusive raw energy live audiences have come to expect from Los Pinguos.

Hailing from cosmopolitan Buenos Aries, Argentina, Los Pinguos united in 1999, immediately winning over fans with their passionate live shows in clubs, bars and private parties throughout the capital. Making a leap of faith, the band journeyed to Los Angeles in 2001, intent on taking their career to the next level. Consistent performances for excited audiences at clubs like The Latin Lounge, The Knitting Factory, Key Club and others culminated in impressive gigs at Santa Monicas 3rd Street Promenade. These shows convinced the band of their ability to reach a wide and diverse audience. Spotted by a talent scout on the promenade, Los Pinguos soon found themselves winning the Grand Prize on the show The Next Big Star and were finally exposed to a national audience.

Since then, the band has recorded five albums and have played with such acts as Ozomatli, Taj Mahal, The Skatalites, The Neville Brothers, Pablo Montero, Paul Anka, Pl

(PRWEB) October 01, 2012 A Sweepstakes Advantage (SA) member was ecstatic as she tells the story of how an ordinary trip win to a local music festival in Las Vegas became the most unforgettable thing about sweepstakes win she has ever had in her life, after receiving several upgrades for her accommodation and passes. Bronze member, Shimmieshakes (not real name), shared her story on the SA Forum last September 24, 2012 after returning from Las Vegas. According to the SA member, she won a trip for two to the IHeartRadio Music Festival sponsored by Dish Network. The package included hotel accommodation, flight and tickets to both night of the concert. She and her husband were also provided with tickets for the first nights After Party. Due to a slight issue with the first room assigned to them, they were upgraded to a suite at the hotel. After watching the concert on the first night, they found themselves looking for shuttle that would take them to the After Party at The Mirage. They asked the Clear Channel representative, and before they knew it, they were sent off to the venue in a VIP limousine. At the After Party, they were seated at the VIP lounge and were served with premium, expensive liquor, and had their own server. Best of all, they were in the same room as the likes of Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Usher and Psy. The winner and her companion also met with the iHeartRadio president, and ended up scoring tickets to the After Party of the following night. On the second night, the couple arrived early at the MGM grand to pick up their After Party tickets. At the concert venue, while waiting in line for the event to begin, they were asked to step out of the line for the Meet and Greet with Brad Paisley. When the Meet and Greet was over, they headed out but could not find their way. Thats when they bumped into a guy from the venue who took them around for a look. They were brought backstage and were told to sit on the front row and watch Pink practice her set before the doors officially opened to the general audience. The lucky couple also got to interact with Pink during her practice. In the meantime at the After Party, the SA member and her husband enjoyed the performance of Ne-Yo, with a special appearance of host, Ryan Seacrest. To say we have an amazing time would be an understatement. This was one of the most fantastic wins of my sweeping career. It will surely be hard to bear! said Shimmieshakes in her note at the SA Forum. Thanks so much SA and Dish for this incredible weekend. Shimmishakes admits that she has only slept a total of 6 hours during the trip but it was all worth it for this lucky couple. SAs CEO, Kenneth Carlos, expressed his congratulations to the lucky SA member and her husband for winning the trip and for having the time of their lives while enjoying their prize. I could not help but smile while reading the story of Shimmieshakes as she seemed to really have the best time of her life. It was a pleasure for Sweepstakes Advantage to be a part of your victory. We wish you more wins in the future. Congratulations! said Carlos. Several big winners also took home enormous prizes toward the end of the month of September. Bronze member, Frgreg92 (not real name), won the grand prize of the Coors Light Football 2012. The prize worth $ 5,900 entitled him of a trip for four to the college football event. He and his friends are now planning to go to New Orleans in 2013. Another SA member also won a travel giveaway valued $ 18,000 for a week-long trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. New member, Ddauphine (not real name), however, had to turn down the win from Delta Airlines EVITA Flyaway Contest as she is busy with work. Meanwhile, new member, Faerimoon9 (not real name), won a trip to LA to attend the premiere of Disneys Frankenweenie. She will be taking her son with her on this 4-day, 3-night trip to Los Angeles. Sweepstakes Advantage was founded in 1997. Since then, the company has grown to become one of the most reliable online sweepstakes directories in the country.
