"The Latin Hurricane – Chayanne, releases his first DVD and a new English CD”

Dubbed “The Latin Hurricane” (PRWEB) October 10, 2002 -

Miami, Fla. –out concert after another, Puerto Rican singing star, Chayanne, has launched his first, long-awaited DVD. At the same time, he is taking an important step into the Anglo pop music market with a new single — the English version of his hit song, “Y Tu Te Vas”(“You Walk Away”).

The DVD of his latest “Grandes Exitos” (Greatest Hits) album was released in the United States on September 17th, and is currently being released in Mexico, Argentina, and other important global markets over the next few weeks. Like the album, it contains a compilation of videos of Chayanne’s best hits of the past, 13 videos in all.

Long awaited by thousands of fans the world over, the DVD also contains an interview, photo gallery, biography, discography and “behind the scenes” looks at the star, and other high points of his 22 year career as an entertainer. The DVD is a production of Sony Music International/LAR-Miami DVD’s. It is currently available in music outlets across the country and on the Internet including Wherehouse Music, Amazon.com, Best Buy, and CDNOW.com. Grandes Exitos DVD is also available in VHS form at the same outlets.

Chaf Enterprises, Chayanne’s management company located in Miami, Fla., also announced that he has recorded the English version of his Latin hit, “Y Tu Te Vas”, a single that was a chart-topper across the country for 21 weeks and has been on the Top 10 list for 30 weeks, on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks. It’s the opening song on his Grandes Exitos album, which also includes two other new songs, “Quisiera Ser” (“He Wanted To Be”) and “Torero” (“The Bullfighter”), currently holding down the top selling slot in many Latin countries today.

To be released by Sony Discos to the American mainstream, Anglo, radio stations within the next few weeks, the new English single, titled You Walk Away will mark Chayanne’s first totally non-Hispanic pop entry since beginning his musical career as a child star singing with the Latin group, Los Chicos (The Boys). Lauded as being one of the best Latin pop performers of today, the dynamic singer has more than 50 gold and 20 platinum Spanish albums already to his credit.

In the midst of his 5-month long “World Tour 2002” (following a highly successful 10-city appearance schedule in the U.S.), Chayanne was asked recently in Spain, why he feels the need to record in English. The 34-year-old star said, ” No, it’s not that it is needed, but it is important to embrace more languages, to extend to more markets. I have also recorded in Italian, French and in Portuguese…to sing in English I see like an expansion of my career.”

Chayanne, this darkly handsome, muscular, singer/actor/dancer is best known in the U.S. for making a big splash with his steamy starring role in the 1998 Columbia Pictures film, “Dance With Me”, (Bailar Conmigo) co-starring the beautiful Vanessa L. Williams and the former singer-turned-actor, Kris Kristofferson. Reruns on cable TV brought even more Anglo fans to his court. This is true especially on the Internet where there are three major web sites of fans, Chayfans.org, Islachayanne.org and Cafechayanne.com, dedicated to spreading the word about their idol and his career, in addition to a Sony Discos site.

Chayanne was also highly praised last season, when he appeared in two episodes of the popular Fox TV series, Ally McBeal. He thrilled his Hispanic fans last season, by starring in a soap opera, novela series,”Provocame” (“You Provoke Me”) on Latin television in many different countries around the world. In addition, he was recently nominated for the Top Male Singer of the Year award for “Y Tu Te Vas,” in the “Los Premios Oye,” ( What You Hear Award or The Best Sound Award ) to be given out on Nov. 26, by the Mexican Association of Producers of Fonogramas, (AMPROFON) and CIE, a television spectacles company.

When Chayanne completes his world tour in the fall, he is expected to return to the recording studio to produce a new crossover album, this one containing several songs in English.

Team of Caesar Systems Developers Wins First Place in Smalltalk Solutions Coding Competition

HOUSTON, TX (PRWEB) May 14, 2007

Senior software developers Leandro Caniglia and Valeria Murgia with Caesar Petroleum Systems of Houston, Texas, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, won first place as a team in the final phase of the Smalltalk Solutions Coding Competition at Smalltalk Solutions 2007.

Smalltalk Solutions 2007 was hosted by Linux World Canada and IT360 Conference and Expo (http://www.it360.ca) at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre April 30 through May 2. The team of Leandro Caniglia and Valeria Murgia was among three finalists selected to compete at Smalltalk Solutions 2007. All coding had to be done in Smalltalk, an object-oriented computer programming language that is the basis for Caesar Systems PetroVR decision support solutions for oil and gas exploration and production companies.

In the final phase of the competition, all contestants had to solve the same problem using Smalltalk. The game produced an objective score based on how efficient the contestants’ programs were, and then the top three were selected. “What made Leandro and Valeria win was that their program was much more malleable than the others so they simply adapted to the changes and in fact more or less matched the performance of the reference solution,” commented Suzanne Fortman, Smalltalk Industry Council marketing chairperson.

The first phase of the Smalltalk Solutions Coding Competition, which began on April 13 and ended on April 22, was judged by means of an objective score based on the performance of each registrants’ submission.

”The Smalltalk Industry Council was pleased to sponsor the third annual Smalltalk coding contest at Smalltalk Solutions 2007. We had a great field of entrants so culling down to three finalists was a difficult task. Andres Valloud did a great job running the contest, and all participants enjoyed the experience. Leandro Caniglia and Valeria Murgia took first place as a team, verifying the value of pair programming,” commented James Robertson, Cincom Systems, Cincom Smalltalk product manager and Smalltalk evangelist.

In addition to participating in the Smalltalk programmers competition, Leandro Caniglia served on the faculty of the conference and presented the paper, “S313 – Heavy Validation,” which offered a summary presentation of the successful use of Smalltalk programming to reconcile software user inputs for accuracy in petroleum business simulation software.

96% Of Audience At Off-Broadway"s My First Time Has Sex After Seeing The Show!

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 9, 2008

MY FIRST TIME (http://www.MyFirstTimeThePlay.com), the Off-Broadway play featuring true stories about first sexual experiences, is an aphrodisiac!

The most talked about new show in New York, previously seen on CNN, “The Tonight Show” and in an iPhone commercial, released the results of a survey today that showed that 96% of its audience members had sex immediately after seeing the show.

However, only 78% of the audience had sex with another person. The remaining 18% were alone.

Producer/Creator, Ken Davenport, said, “I was pretty shocked when I saw the survey results that said almost 100% of our audience was having sex after the show. I’m getting tickets for all my married friends!”

MY FIRST TIME released the results today, on its “first” anniversary, and in celebration of the upcoming productions of the show in Mexico, Spain, France, Korea, Israel, Brazil, Costa Rica, Argentina, and more.

MY FIRST TIME also released the results of the survey completed by audience members during each performance over the past year. This survey asks questions like, ‘How old were you when you lost your virginity?’, ‘What was your partner’s name?’, and more. The responses are compiled and revealed to the audience during the show.

The aggregated results of a year’s worth of audiences were as follows:

The average age of loss of virginity was 17.6
31.5% of the audience planned their first time.
39.5% of the audience used contraception.
37.9% of the audience still keeps in touch with their first time partners.
12% rated their first time as “excellent”.
46% rated their first time as “good”.
32% rated their first time as “not good”.
10% rated their first time as “awful”.
Each night, MY FIRST TIME also asks its audience members, ‘What would you say to your first time partner if he or she were here right now?’

The favorite audience comments from the past year of performances were:

‘It took me longer to fill out this survey than it did to lose my virginity.’
‘Where are my Depeche Mode CD’s?’
‘Size does matter, not just the motion of the ocean, cause it takes a hell of a long time to get to England in a row boat.’
‘I wish you were bigger. Like your cousin!’
‘Surprise, surprise, I’m gay.’
(More favorites are available at http://www.MyFirstTimeThePlay.com.)

Ken Davenport continued, “First sexual experiences are one of the few things that almost every single person on this planet has in common. It doesn’t matter if you live in Cincinnati or Sri Lanka. It doesn’t matter if you’re George Clooney or George Washington. Almost everyone is going to have sex for the first time, yet we rarely talk about it. That’s why I created the show… so we can share these experiences, and move on to the ‘next time’. And obviously my audience has no problem with that. Now, I have to go. My girlfriend and I are seeing the show tonight, and I don’t want it to start without me!”

More About MY FIRST TIME:

MY FIRST TIME is a new Off-Broadway play featuring four actors in hysterical and heartbreaking stories about first sexual experiences written by real people, just like you.

In 1998, a website was created that allowed people to share their own stories about their First Times. The website became an instant phenomenon as over 40,000 true stories poured in from around the globe that were silly, sweet, absurd, funny, heterosexual, homosexual, shy, sexy and everything in between.

And now, in the first-ever example of Theater 2.0, these stories and all of the unique characters in them are brought to life in MY FIRST TIME, which critics have called: ‘Screamingly Funny!’ ’80 minutes of titillation’, and ‘Terrific for date night!’

Performances are Fridays and Saturday evenings at New World Stages/Stage 5 (340 West 50th Street, New York City, New York) at 7 PM. For tickets from as low as $ 25, visit Telecharge.com or call (212)239-6200.

For more information call 1-888-MY-1-TIME or visit http://www.MyFirstTimeThePlay.com.

More About Ken Davenport:

Recently hailed as the ‘P.T. Barnum of Off-Broadway’ in the New York Times, featured on a national commercial for the iPhone, and named one of Crain’s Forty Under 40, Ken is the only independent producer to have three shows running simultaneously Off-Broadway: ALTAR BOYZ, THE AWESOME 80S PROM, and MY FIRST TIME. He is currently adapting the novel and film SOMEWHERE IN TIME into a Broadway musical as well as filming a documentary on one of the top unsigned rock bands in the country, Red Wanting Blue.

Ken runs a number of theatrical websites including the new social networking site, http://www.BroadwaySpace.com and http://www.BestOfOffBroadway.com. For more information, visit http://www.DavenportTheatrical.com or Ken’s blog at http://www.TheProducersPerspective.com.

pixelhose.com Announces Winners of Its First Writing Competition

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 25, 2012

pixelhose.com announced winners of the web sites first writing competition in two categories: Fiction and Non-Fiction. Six emerging writers were selected from over a thousand submissions, from eleven countries.

The pixelhose writing competition is unique in that it is the only writing competition to include social elements, such as reader “Likes” and comments, as tangible scoring components. The final selections were made by a combination of pixelhose staff opinions and readers’ reaction to each submission.

“The social element of the contest worked far better than we had ever imagined. Not only did it give authors instant feedback, and our staff an indicator as to how the piece resonated with readers, it also exposed almost all of the submissions to new readers. In fact, most submissions were read by an average of 130 individuals, giving each author significant new exposure. The pixelhose.com social approach is a contrast to traditional writing competitions, where only the winning authors receive any benefit from participating. This Social approach is a key success ingredient of pixelhose.com, and one which we plan to further enhance and strengthen in our future contests,” said Bob Dourandish, pixelhose publisher.

Winners, Fiction Category

First Selection: “Peg” by Bellakentuky (http://pixelhose.com/2011/12/16/peg-by-bellakentuky/). Kent DuFault writes under the pen name, Bellakentuky. Kent is a native of Minnesota, but has also lived in Florida, South Carolina, and Argentina. He has worked most of his life as freelance photographer and incorporated writing into his work whenever possible. He has a penchant for short stories and began marketing them in earnest about two years ago. He lives with his wife, Clarisa, and their three pets in Corrientes, Argentina.

Second Selection: “The Life and Times of Emmy Calhoun” by Annie Boreson (http://pixelhose.com/2011/12/29/the-life-and-times-of-emmy-calhoun-by-annie-boreson/). Annie Boreson was born into a quirky story-telling family. The mother of three grown girls, she now resides in L.A. with her husband. She has co-written a memoir and is currently working on a novel. Annie also tackles daily dramas in her humorous blog Annie Off Leash. http://annieboreson.com.

Third Selection: “Just One Cut” by J.C. Martin (http://pixelhose.com/2011/12/19/just-one-cut-by-j-c-martin/). J.C. Martin is a butt-kicking bookworm: when she isnt reading or writing, she teaches martial arts and self-defense to adults and children. After working in pharmaceutical research, then in education as a schoolteacher, she decided to put the following to good use: one, her 2nd degree black belt in Wing Chun kung fu; and two, her overwhelming need to write dark mysteries and gripping thrillers with a psychological slant. Her short stories have won various prizes and have been published in several anthologies. Her debut novel, “Oracle,” will be released by J. Taylor Publishing on July 30th, 2012. Born and raised in Malaysia, J.C. now lives in south London with her husband and three dogs. For more information, visit her website at http://www.jc-martin.com.

Winners, Non-Fiction Category

First Selection: “Charlie” by Vandy Gibson (http://pixelhose.com/2011/11/06/charlie-by-vandy-gibson/). Vandy’s story is based on real events that took place after she was abandoned at a gas station by her parents when she was 13. It is a chapter in the book she is writing.

Second Selection: “Pop” (http://pixelhose.com/2011/10/28/pop-by-amy-hildreth-duncan/) by Amy Hildreth Duncan. She is currently writing about her book on her blog: http://finallygettingdowntobrasstacks.wordpress.com/

Third Selection: “The Mustached Murderers” by Tara Parian (http://pixelhose.com/2011/12/08/the-mustached-murderers-by-tara-parian/). According to Tara, the piece developed over time. “In the summer of 2010, I was on a road trip with my best partner in crime, Emily, driving back to NYC from a music festival in Tennessee. We laughed and cried and shared stories as we reflected on our epic weekend with the windows down, our hair down, and the sun on it’s way down. My ‘Mustached Murderers’ story somehow came up in conversation, and Emily laughed so hard she nearly wet the driver’s seat. She said, “You HAVE to write that down.” So, I did, and it eventually developed and found its way from my road trip journal into cyberspace. Becoming a professional writer is an equally challenging and heartbreaking career path to pursue, so I feel honored to be recognized,” Tara explained.
