ShoWare by VisionOne, Inc. today announced that the County of Marin has selected the ShoWare system for its countywide ticketing solution. The County chose ShoWare to manage ticketing operations at both the Marin Center and the annual Marin County Fair because of the its comprehensive feature set including powerful sales and marketing capabilities, flexibility to control fees and its ease-of-use.
For over 40 years the Marin Center has presented a spectacular array of world-class performing arts events. As one of the Bay Area’s top venues, it features several settings including the Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium that seats 2,000 and hosts a variety of major events, a 22,500-square-foot exhibit hall that can be partitioned for a variety of uses, and the 315-seat Showcase Theatre.
The Marin Center also contains fairgrounds that feature a 14-acre lagoon, walking paths, lawns, and garden areas. In addition to art and music festivals, corporate picnics, parties, and dog shows, the fairgrounds is also home to the 67th annual Marin County Fair, an award-winning county fair running June 30 through July 4, 2012.
Prior to ShoWare, the Marin Center was using several disparate ticketing systems, which limited the venues ticket sales, service and marketing potential. That led Marin County, to put out a formal request for proposals. The County received more than a dozen submissions and after an extensive review process selected ShoWare.
ShoWare delivered the strongest proposal in providing a comprehensive, single-platform ticketing solution that would work best for us and our community, said Jim Farley, director for the Department of Cultural and Visitor Services County of Marin. Marin County and its residents are especially tech-savvy, so features like online, mobile and social media ticketing as well as free print-at-home tickets are powerful features that allow our patrons to purchase tickets when and how they want, whether its from a computer, a tablet or a smartphone. This will be especially helpful in purchasing advance tickets for the county fair.
The Marin County Fair will be the first fair in California to utilize ticketing directly within Facebook. It will also be the first fair in California to use ShoWares brand new mobile ticketing product. ShoWares mobile ticketing product allows patrons to easily purchase tickets right from their internet enabled smart phones without the inconvenience of having to download and store an application on their smart phone.
Since using ShoWare, the Marin Centers ability to control ticket fees has reduced the cost per ticket for patrons by more than a third, while driving greater net revenue for Marin County. Farley also touts the ShoWare systems robust sales and marketing capabilities, such as the Facebook ticketing, as a way to increase its overall customer relationship management
