VBT Bicycling and Walking Vacations Announces Four New Trips for 2012

Bristol, Vermont (PRWEB) June 08, 2011

Frequent requests from travelers have led VBT Bicycling and Walking Vacations to bring back its Tuscan Hills bicycling trip, one of four new vacations for 2012 offered by the company, a leading provider of international deluxe active bicycling and walking tours.

The requests have been continual and passionate over the past few years, Gregg Marston, President of VBT, said. Our travelers made it clear that they want to encounter the extraordinary scenic beauty and unique way of life in the Tuscan hills with VBT. We wanted to make sure that when we brought back this vacation, the new itinerary would provide the best combination of discovery and value, and now weve done it. We have a long tradition of listening to our travelers, and, once again, they have pointed us in the right direction. Its great to be back in the Tuscan hills with a bicycling vacation.

Other new destinations await VBT travelers, including a 10-day Bordeaux & the Banks of the River Dordogne and a 6-day Marylands Chesapeake Bay, both bicycling vacations. Rounding out the new slate for 2012 is Argentina: Walking in Patagonia, which combines the stunning beauty of Patagonia with tremendous value, thanks to the strength of the U.S. dollar there.

All four of these vacations embody the best of what VBT offers travelers, said Chris Skilling, the companys Director of Worldwide Product. Theres a connection among the mind, body, and spirit that our travelers find fulfilling and exciting. Its what brings them back to travel with us again and again.

Skilling noted that VBTs commitment to rewarding discoveries and unbeatable value has led to the company being named among the Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth by National Geographic Adventure, and placing 4th in Travel + Leisure magazines 2010 Worlds Best Awards in the Tour Operator and Safari Outfitter category.

The new Bordeaux & the Banks of the River Dordogne bicycling vacation is the perfect escape for travelers who long for the serene beauty of rural France and who delight in the rich rewards of French cuisine and wine. The heart of the trip is bicycling along the tranquil banks of the River Dordogne on quiet country lanes used only by vineyard workers, past historic chateaux and lovely small villages, and through prestigious wine domains.

VBT travelers will also encounter the best of rural French culture, with activities that range from a private visit and wine tasting at Chateau Font Vidal to a walking tour of the underground catacombs of Saint Emilions cathedral. Accommodations include two quite different chateaux: a small one carefully crafted from the ruins of an 18th-century chateau, and the other large, set on a magnificent estate surrounded by vineyards

Also new for 2012 is the Marylands Chesapeake Bay bicycling vacation, which brings travelers to one of the most unique and rewarding seascapes in the U.S. This 6-day trip highlights the regions tidal bays and fertile farmland, with enticing, tree-lined back roads. Theres rich Colonial history here, along with easy access to fascinating galleries, shops, and restaurants.

This trip is a perfect choice for travelers new to bicycling vacations, Skilling said. Most of the roads are flat, and they offer a great way to stretch your legs at your own pace. Well also explore the regions distinctive maritime culture, including fabulous crab dishes and seafood. Theres an evening of local music and story-telling, too. Its a wonderful trip.

Back by popular demand is the 10-day Tuscan Hills bicycling vacation, offering travelers unforgettable discoveries in Florence, Siena, Pienza, and romantic San Gimignano. Cycling through one of Europes most beautiful landscapes, travelers will explore the steep hills of the Elsa Valley and the soft hills of the Orcia and Asso valleys. In the evening, travelers will relax in the comfort of historic villas and ancient, converted monasteries.

Well cycle to Chianti through vineyards and wonderful hilltop Tuscan villages, Marston said. And theres plenty of time for travelers to explore on their own, which they tell us they love to do. The vacation also includes a visit to the 14th-century Benedictine abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, a ride to Colle Val dElsa, a picturesque town famous for its fine handcrafted crystal and medieval architecture, and a wine tasting at a renowned local enoteca, part of a day of discovery in Pienza.

Offering an entirely different travel experience is Argentina: Walking in Patagonia, a new itinerary to one of the last wild places on earth. This unique itinerary is centered on the small outpost villages of El Calafate and El Chalten. From these home bases, travelers will walk well-groomed trails among dramatic landscapes, including towering Andean peaks and vast Patagonian plains, or pampas. And though the region is known for its rustic atmosphere, VBT has secured Patagonias best deluxe accommodationsincluding Los Sauces, the El Calafate, a European-influenced luxury resort, and Los Notros, the only lodge in Los Glacieres National Park with direct views of the Perito Moreno Glacier.

Were all thrilled that VBT can offer a walking vacation in this absolutely amazing part of the world, Skilling said. Our travelers have told us that they want to explore new places on foot, and this itinerary is literally a direct result of traveler feedback. We designed it from the ground up, so to speak, with plenty of opportunities to discover Patagonias unique culturefrom the estancia lifestyle at a century-old ranch to a typical Argentine barbecue.

First departures of Argentina: Walking in Patagonia are in the Fall of 2011. VBT is also offering Winter 2012 dates for those travelers eager to dash away from the cold of Winter back home. Our Winter is Argentinas Summer, Skilling pointed out, making it the perfect time to visit.

Unlike most active tour companies, VBT includes roundtrip international airfare for all vacations, as well as including all air fuel surcharges. All four of these new 2012 vacations include superb accommodations, most meals, guided sightseeing and activities, support vehicles and other transport, transfers, use of VBT bicycles or walking poles, and more. Daily route choices and continuous road support give travelers the opportunity to tailor the pace to their individual tastes. Groups are limited to 14-20 travelers, with two dedicated local, bilingual VBT Trip Leaders offering expert guidance and support.

Founded in 1971 by Middlebury College professor, John Freidin, VBT Bicycling and Walking Vacations is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year. The company offers 37 deluxe, small group bicycling and walking tours in 26 countries worldwide, including destinations in Europe, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Vietnam, Peru, Argentina and the U.S.A. Each trip includes all accommodations, many meals, two expert local Trip Leaders, unique sightseeing and cultural activities, and full vehicle support. Unlike other companies, VBT also includes international airfare and air fuel surcharges in its trip cost.

Krian Music Group/BFM Digital Announce Official SXSW Music 2012 Showcase on Thursday, March 15

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 25, 2012

Indie record label Krian Music Group and their exclusive digital distributor, BFM Digital are hosting their first official SXSW showcase this year, bringing an exhilarating must see lineup to the Iron Bear on Thursday, March 15th. Dance rockers VHS Or Beta, Spanish garage punks Capsula, Los Angeles indie outfit Hands, Nashville’s retro-rockers The Ettes, Brooklyn quirk-pop band Suckers, and Ohio’s The Strange Familiar are all scheduled to perform.

VHS or Beta http://www.vhsorbeta.com

The Brooklyn based dance-rock band, VHS OR BETA, released their fourth album, Diamonds and Death, in the fall of ’11. From the backroom disco of their favorite Bushwick watering hole, to DFA Records’ Plantain Studio in the West Village, new surroundings exerted a powerful influence on the predominantly electronic grooves of their first full-length since 2007′s Bring on the Comets.

Capsula http://www.capsula.org

The second full-length release from Spanish rockers CAPSULA, In The Land of Silver Souls, is a striking combination of garage rock toughness and modern style. The band, originally from Argentina, was effected creatively by the Argentinian dictatorship’s censoring of music. In a place where subversive lyrical and music express was a necessity, Capsula found their sound: the unbound emotion of dirty rock.

Witnessing Capsula live is an experience not easily forgotten, as they tear though blistering washes of guitar and pounding rhythms delivered with the true essence of punk rock attitude.

The Ettes http://www.theettes.com/

THE ETTES return with Wicked Will, the fourth record from the rowdy and relentless Nashville, TN garage rock trio of Coco Hames (vocals, guitar), Jem Cohen (bass) and Poni Silver (drums). Wicked Will encompasses everything you’ve come to expect from The Ettes and more – up-front, fearless vocals, fuzz bass runs, primal, driving drums beats, searing guitar lines and of course, tons of black eyeliner and attitude. Female attitude.

Hands http://www.handssounds.com

Each of HANDS four members has distinct strengths and disciplines that coalesce into a truly unique sound worthy of their recent praise. With technical authority, a profound sense of tempo, solid complementary bass thumps and the occasional auxiliary drums, Hands interplay of esoteric guitar riffs and soaring tenor vocals is further expanded upon by the various sampling and looping techniques craft a blissfully fresh sound.

Scoring a slew of opening spots for the likes of Deerhoof, DeVotchKa, Foster the People and more, Hands is bracing for a big 2012, including a much-anticipated EP this spring.

Suckers http://www.suckersmusic.com

SUCKERS are on a mission to break musical barriers and cultivate something new while maintaining a classic pop accessibility. Suckers merged as the sound and aesthetic of three one-man bands playing together. The band hit their stride, packing Brooklyn venues and sharing bills with friends and kindred spirits in Yeasayer, MGMT, Dragons Of Zynth, Chairlift, Kyp Malone and Awesome Color, among others. Suckers’ lush tapestry of joyous pop, style and imagination on their self-titled debut EP (produced by Yeasayer’s Anand Wilder) -and its hit single, “It Gets Your Body Movin’”-launched them to global acclaim.

The Strange Familiar http://www.thestrangefamiliar.com

Indie pop outfit THE STRANGE FAMILIAR, have performed for millions on network television, had hit records recorded by major artists and are now set to release their debut album, Chasing Shadows, on March 27, 2012.

Chasing Shadows is filed with smoky acoustic grooves, jubilant choruses, big hooks and smart lyrics.all of which show off Kira Leyden’s soulful upper register. But underneath the deftly orchestrated tunes is a story of struggle and searching to find happiness in the midst of false dreams.

Live And Invest Overseas Announces The Top Overseas Retirement Havens For 2012

Panama city, Panama (PRWEB) March 26, 2012

Live And Invest Overseas Publisher Kathleen Peddicord Announces The Top Overseas Retirement Havens For 2012.

Cheapest, safestbest weather, best infrastructure, best health caremost tax-advantaged and most foreign-resident-friendly. Not to mention most romantic, beautiful, exotic, historic, and adventure filled We sent our scouts around the world to find the best, the most comfortable, the most affordable, and the most convenient locations for retirement in 2012.

Without further ado, heres an introduction to some of Live and Invest Overseas Top Retirement Havens for 2012:

Top Retirement Haven #1: Las Tablas, Panama

For the potential retiree or foreign resident, Panama offers big and unequaled advantageswarm weather and lots of sunshine, a low cost of living, a foreign-resident-friendly tax system, one of the best banking systems in the world, a stable political situation, a bright economic outlook, and the worlds best program of discounts and perks for foreign retiresbetter than the famed pensionado program that operated in Costa Rica throughout the 1980s.

Panama makes more sense now than ever. Panama has effectively side-stepped the recession that has crippled much of the rest of the world and continues to enjoy solid economic growth and a positive future outlook.

Top Retirement Haven #2: Southern France

World’s best quality of life, world’s best health care, world’s best infrastructure, world’s most romantic city…France is a country that begs superlatives. Downsides are a draconian approach to taxation (so don’t become a legal resident); a cultural distaste for entrepreneurial activity (so don’t consider any business in this country that’d require local hires or a local shop front); and the euro (maybe a concern if your nest egg is denominated in U.S. dollars). On the other hand, retirement in France can be more affordable than you might imagine, certainly when you consider the country beyond Paris. Even Paris can be a more affordable place to live than you might expect, but elsewhere in France, you could live well on a budget that qualifies as better than modest.

Top Retirement Haven #3: Penang, Malaysia

Malaysia is a tropical paradise. Beautiful islands and beaches, cool mountain retreats, great food, a diverse and multi-ethnic culture, excellent shopping, and a low cost of living…Malaysia has it all. Plus, the infrastructure and health care are modern and efficient. English is widely spoken. Entertainment ranges from street celebrations to casino gambling, from amusement parks to mountain climbing, from jungle trekking to championship level golf, and from Formula 1 racing to world music festivals and philharmonic orchestra productions. World-renowned diving and snorkeling destinations are never more than a few hours away. And here’s the cherry on top: The Malaysian government makes it surprisingly easy to live long-term in this hard-to-resist Shangri-la.

Top Retirement Haven #4: Cuenca, Ecuador

Ecuador is one of the most affordable places in the world to retire and the most affordable place to retire comfortably in Latin America. Its also very accessible from the U.S.you can fly direct from both Quito and Guayaquil to Miami, Atlanta, Houston, New York, and Atlanta.

Temperatures are constant year-round, as is the length of each day. In Ecuador you can count on 12 hours of daylight 365 days a year. In the mountains, temperatures are cool and comfortable, spring-like, 12 months a year, in the range of 50 degrees Fahrenheit in the evenings, to 70 degrees in the daytime.

Top Retirement Haven #5: Chiang Mai, Thailand

Thailand is arguably the cheapest place on earth to live well. Our scouts there have long been teasing and tempting us with tales of US$ 1 Pad Thai lunches and US$ 11-a-night hotels (including breakfast and free WiFi). Across Thailand, the standard of medical care is very high, and costs are extremely reasonable. This has helped to make the country a popular destination for medical tourists, who find it much less expensive to fly to Thailand and receive treatment there than it would be to have the same procedure performed in their home countries.

Top Retirement Haven #6: Ambergris Caye, Belize

Belize is a safe, friendly, welcoming, unassuming little country where the English-speaking population values personal privacy, self-determination, and freedom.

Ambergris Caye, Belize, is unadulterated, unpretentious Caribbean…the sea, sand, and sunshine of the Caymans or the Virgin Islands without the price tag. San Pedro town, a former fishing village, is the center of activity and home to a growing expatriate community of North Americans and Europeans catered to now by dozens of restaurants, shops, art galleries, and community organizations. Legal residency is easy to obtain through the country’s Qualified Retired Persons (QRP) program. Belize is also a banking haven, and one of the easiest places in the world to open an offshore bank account.

Top Retirement Haven #7: Medellin, Colombia

Known as the City of Springtime and Flowers, Medellin, Colombia, is quietly becoming one of the worlds best overseas havens. This friendly, welcoming, beautiful, sophisticated, and safe city is finally shedding the false stigma that has lingered since Pablo Escobars death nearly 20 years ago to emerge as one of the worlds best and most affordable lifestyle options.

Medellin is a miniature and cleaner version of Buenos Aires, Argentina, from its annual International Tango Festival to its art museums and many universities. Culture abounds here. The streets are tree-lined, and the citys many parks are filled with flowers, thanks to spring-like weather that the city enjoys year-round. With its low cost of living, perfect weather, and unrivaled real estate bargains, friendly Medellin is one of our top overseas retirement choices for 2012.

CMN Sports has also added a motorsports department and a promising young talent in Indy Lights driver Gustavo Yacaman, and its recent expansion into Europe via a partnership with Barcelona-based marketing and communications firm Arenalia hopes to identify and develop sports and entertainment projects in the U.S. and Europe.

CMN has been named to the It List every year since 2009 and has received a number of other recognitions in 2012. In April, the agency captured the Best Tour Sponsorship Award from Billboard while also being named to Chief Marketers Top 100 agency list, Hispanic Business HB 500 list, and Crains Chicago Business Fast Fifty list for the third consecutive year.
